The equipment of the Romanian waters Siret are mobilized and relocated to unlock the access roads, after, between July 27-28, several localities in Suceava and Neamt counties have faced heavy rainfall.

The National Administration “Romanian Waters” (ANAR) states, in a press release, that, within 3 hours and with a very high intensity, there were precipitations that exceeded 70 l/sqm.

Therefore, at the hydrometric stations in the administration of ANAR, significant quantitative rainfall, as follows, were recorded: as follows:

– Gura Humorului hydrometric station (78.7 l/sqm) on the Moldova River;

– Stulpicani hydrometric station (66.8 l/sqm) on the Suha River;

– Parhăuţi hydrometric station (68.9 l/sqm) on the Soloneţ river;

– Dorna Arini hydrometric station (54.8 l/sqm) and Dorna Giumalău (53, l/sqm), on the Bistriţa river;

– Zvoriştea hydrometric station (59.3 l/sqm), on the Siret river.

As a result of these significant water accumulations and leaks on the slopes, the National Institute of Water Hydrology and Management has issued four hydrological warnings for immediate phenomena, of which two red code warnings – including for the Bistrita river sector between SH Dorna Arini and the accumulation of Izvoru Munte.

On the Bistriţa river, at the Beautiful Hydrometric Station (Neamţ County), a hazard quota was exceeded, a historical flow of 534 mc/s, and on the Suha river, at the Stulpicani hydrometric station (Suceava county), the flood rate was exceeded.

In the areas with hydrotechnical works, they worked in normal parameters. The flood formed on the Bistriţa river was fully taken over in the accumulation of the spring of the mountain, being downstream problems.

The most affected localities

Among the most affected localities are: Broşteni, Vadu Negrilesei, Stulpicani, Ostra (Suceava county), where local floods, bank erosions, blocked roads and damaged bridges, Borca, Sabasa and Farcaşa (Neamţ county) were recorded, with the preventive evacuation of about 800 persons.

The hydrological warning is still in force, and the situation remains under strict supervision.

ANAR reminds the population in the areas concerned to follow the recommendations of the authorities and to avoid crossing the watercourses or flooded areas.

Currently, all the operative personnel SGA Suceava and SGA Neamţ (around 100 people), within the Siret water basin (Siret), together with the operative management of ABA Siret, are on the spot. Several machines were relocated for the operative interventions from SGA Vrancea, SGA Bacău and Sh Paşcani in order to unlock the access roads to the town of Broşteni in Suceava county which is currently isolated.

The equipment of the Romanian waters Siret are mobilized and relocated to unlock the access roads. Also, in support of our teams from Siret, such equipment from ABA Someş-Tisa and ABA Mures are relocated for the actions to restore the affected areas.

The monitoring of watercourses is permanent, in the field.
