InfoCons alert! Fast products, package with dozens of E’s. Snacks with up to 56 additives

With the beginning of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, InfoCons draws an alarm signal on the quality of post products for sale in shops and restaurants. According to a recent analysis, many of the foods consumed during this period are rich in food additives (ES), salt and sugar, exceeding the values recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

InfoCons studies show that a simple snack, made up of bread, vegetable paste, margarine, halva, soy milk, tofu, tea juice and chewing gum, can contain up to 56 food additives. Distribution by categories is as follows:

  • Bread: Up to 8 E-EIs
  • Vegetable paste: up to 13 E-in
  • Margarine: Up to 6 E-EIs
  • Halva: Up to 3 E-EIs
  • Tea juice: up to 8 E’s
  • Soy milk: up to 5 E-in
  • Tofu: up to 2 E-of
  • Chewing gum: up to 11 E-EIs

Excess salt: 84% more than WHO recommendation

In the same snack, the amount of salt can reach 9.21 grams, given that the WHO recommends up to 5 grams per day. This means that, only from a snack, consumers can exceed the recommended daily limit by 84.2%.

Sugar over limit: 50% more than daily dose

In terms of sugar, the same food combination can contain up to 37.7 grams of sugar, well above the 25 grams recommended daily by WHO – an exceedance of 50.8% of the limit considered safe for health.

Post menus in restaurants

At the same time, InfoCons conducted a study on the nutritional ingredients and values of the post preparations that are marketed in restaurants.

According to the existing data in the physical menus in the restaurants that have been the object of the study or on their sites where consumers can order online the situation is as follows:

  • Vegetable soup can contain up to 9 E-mails, between 0.66-3.47 grams of sugar and 0.04-7.76 grams of salt.
  • The vegetarian plateau can include up to 2 EYuri, between 2.72-11.84 grams of sugar and 0.91-3.7 grams of salt.

In total, such a meal can deliver to consumers over 11 food additives, 15.31 grams of sugar and 11.46 grams of salt, quantities that endanger health, especially in the case of regular consumption.
