Crin Antonescu accuses political pressure from Bolojan’s camp: “They want to put maximum pressure on Nicușor Dan”

The former PNL leader, Crin Antonescu, claims that behind the political negotiations for the formation of the government was a strategy to maintain power, in which Ilie Bolojan and his supporters want to put pressure on the president Nicușor Dan.

On Sunday, May 10, Crin Antonescu criticized the camp associated with Ilie Bolojan in the context of negotiations for the future government, stating that the real stake is not the opposition, but control over the executive power.

“They want to put maximum pressure on Nicușor Dan, to the point that they want him to be a kind of constitutional monarch – to open champagne on occasions, and all decisions, big contracts, big economic policy decisions belong exclusively to them”said Crin Antonescu, in an intervention on Antena3.

He said he did not believe in the stated intentions of the Bolojan camp to enter the opposition, considering them to be part of a political negotiation tactic.

“I am convinced that Mr. Bolojan and his supporters know very well that it is necessary for them to stay in power. This whole parade – we go to the opposition, we make the opposition – I do not believe in it. I think that Mr. Bolojan has work to do in power“, the former PNL leader also said.

Crin Antonescu also warned about the internal effects on the National Liberal Party, arguing that the promoted direction could redraw the electorate of the formation. “If the party goes in that direction, it will take USR voters, divide with USR, and people like me, as many as were PNL voters, will look for something else”he added.

We remind you that the former PNL leader, Crin Antonescu, commented on Saturday, the public post of the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, on Europe Day, stating that he appreciates the fact that he spoke about “Europe’s mistakes” and adopted a balanced tone on some sensitive topics.

He also referred to the president’s answers regarding the activity of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate under the mandate of the former head of the institution, Laura Codruța Kövesi, which he categorized as “shy, but with common sense”.

“I am happy with the communication today, on Europe Day, by the President of Romania. I greet with pleasant surprise the fact that Mr. Nicușor Dan is speaking, for the first time in history, from Cotroceni, about the mistakes of Europe. Together with the answer given to the question about the DNA in the mandate of Mrs. Kovesi (timid answer, but which shows at least a precious dose of common sense), together with the fact that he did not comply with the “orders” hysterics of the supposedly “reforming” Bolshevik pack or with the fact that they are trying to strike a rational balance in the internal political crisis, these are signs that give hope and I have not the slightest hesitation in welcoming them”, wrote Crin Antonescu in a post on Facebook.
