Melinda Lazarin is a student in the 11th grade at the National College “Unirea from Focșani” and was selected by two of the best universities in the world for academic summer programs.
Melinda, 17 years old, student at Unirea National College in Focșani, class XI, mate-info, has the best school and extracurricular results as a student in recent generations, being a national Olympian.
Recently, the teenager was admitted to two top academic programs: HARVARD CRIMSON and OXFORD – signature course Philosophy, Politics & Economics.
The young woman was selected from several thousand very good students and from more than 100 countries of the world. That means more than 4000 students from 127 countries for the academic program Oxford Signature Course – senior and young writer – journalism school at Harvard, at the oldest university newspaper published daily, without interruption, in the USA.
They are two of the most selective international academic programs dedicated to young top achievers, a door he has opened for himself and through which he will enter an environment where intellectual excellence, critical thinking and academic competition become the standard.
“Between debates, intensive courses and meetings with outstanding students from all over the world, the experience itself does not mean only study, school, but access to a community built around performance, ambition and ideas that can shape the future,… that’s what he told them he wanted. After year after year, starting from the mundane 100 points at Comper, Eurojunior, Childhood Memories, county competitions, the leader of the Center of Excellence moved on to the Olympics, at the Nationals and he didn’t stop until he got here, the icing on the cake! In a place, at a time when certain doors are not only open for good grades, but for minds that have the courage to think further than the rest”, Melinda’s mother says proudly.
The teenager will spend two weeks in the editorial office of The Harvard Crimson – the most prestigious student newspaper in the USA and the place from which numerous personalities from politics, business and the American press started. It was founded in 1873 and is considered the oldest continuously published daily college newspaper in the United States.

The selection to participate int is known for its high level of competitiveness and for the emphasis on quick thinking, analysis and leadership.
At the John Locke Institute’s Oxford Signature Course, 10 days – participants work in a format inspired by the Oxford academic system—debates, argumentation, essays, and intensive seminars—in an environment that brings together elite students from around the world, many of them Oxford, Cambridge, or Ivy League oriented.
