George Simion claims that he had both official and informal meetings with Nicuşor Dan, during the negotiations for the formation of the Government, and accuses that Adrian Veștea and Eugen Tomac tried to break the AUR, by attracting parliamentarians.
George Simion states that, during the negotiations for the formation of the Government, he had meetings with President Nicușor Dan and several political leaders. On the show “Ai Aflat! cu Ionuț Cristache”, the AUR leader claimed that the discussions with the President of Romania took place both in official consultations and in “informal meetings”.
When asked about these, George Simion refused to give details, saying that he discussed these aspects with Călin Georgescu, Dan Dungaciu and members of his party.
At the same time, he also launched accusations against the presidential advisor Eugen Tomac and the liberal Adrian Veștea, both appointed at a given moment by Nicusor Dan to occupy the position of prime minister, who he says would have tried to obtain support from some AUR parliamentarians for the passage of a government led by Veștea, despite the decision taken at the party level.
Despite the fact that Nicușor Dan declared that none of the presidential advisors were involved in the discussions for the formation of a majority, according to the AUR leader, deputy Muhammad Murad was called to Vila Lac for discussions about attracting votes from the party for Eugen Tomac and Adrian Veştea.
“After the untimely appointment of Adrian Veștea, one of the AUR deputies, Mr. Murad, was invited to Vila Lac by Adrian Veștea and Eugen Tomac. They took part in a discussion about how some of the AUR MPs could vote for the Veștea Government, as if we were a stall.

Asked if there could be an attempt to destabilize the party behind this move, the AUR leader was firm:

“Murad presented us with what was proposed to him”, said George Simion, stressing again that he participated in all discussions regarding the formation of a majority, including meetings held at the Cotroceni Palace.
“I participated in consultations with all of them. For example, I went to both formal and informal consultations. I participated in all discussions.
We, as a political formation, must discuss with the other political formations and reach a conclusion”, George Simion also said.
“AUR’s conclusion is that, if we are not part of a government and if we do not occupy important positions in the Romanian state, we cannot be part of a governing coalition. Not even as long as we are not involved in decision-making.
