American actress Kaylee Hottle, 18 years old, died on the night of Monday to Tuesday, July 20-21, in a car accident in the state of Maryland in the eastern USA.
Driven by a 19-year-old man, the vehicle in which the actress was with another passenger left the roadway and hit an obstacle, according to a press release from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, writes Agerpres.
The police, who intervened shortly before 03:00 in the morning, estimate that “excessive speed” contributed to the accident.
Kaylee Hottle was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the authorities said. The driver was injured, but his life is not in danger, while the other passenger refused medical attention.
The actress, who was deaf, was known for her role as ‘Jia’ in ‘Godzilla vs Kong’ (2021) and ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ (2024), expressing herself in sign language.
She was nominated for the 2024 Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Young Actor or Actress.
Her parents reacted to her death through sign language videos posted on Facebook.
The school for deaf students in Texas, where the young woman studied, lamented on social networks “a huge loss“:
“Our thoughts are with Kaylee’s family, friends, classmates and all who knew and loved her during this incredibly difficult time.“, the school wrote.
