How Cîrstoiu defends himself against accusations of incompatibility: “Some wolves in sheep's clothing are trying to turn the sheep into a wolf”

The candidate supported by PSD and PNL for the Capital City Hall, Cătălin Cîrstoiu, stated on B1 Tv that he is not incompatible, claiming that he still feels the support of the two leaders of the Coalition.

“Some wolves in sheep's clothing are trying to turn the sheep into a wolf (…) I am not in any state of incompatibility. In real terms, they are not incompatible. (…) I did not have any contractual relationship, paid or unpaid, with a private clinic”, said the candidate supported by PSD and PNL on B1 TV.

Looking at the notifications to ANI that target him, Cîrstoiu stated: “Very well, after all, this democracy means a pluralism of ideas.”

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and the head of the PNL, Nicolae Ciucă, showed that the doctor must come up with explanations regarding the accusations of incompatibility that concern him.

“At the moment, I think the most correct approach, after the decision of the Coalition was that Mr. Cîrstoiu be the candidate, is for Mr. Cîrstoiu to hold a press conference and explain these accusations. Mr. Cîrstoiu must appear in front of the press and explain”, said Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, when asked about the candidacy of Cătălin Cîrstoiu announced by the PSD-PNL alliance.

“As a doctor, I think he's more skilled than any of us at getting out of this intensive care state,” specified in some statements PNL president Nicolae Ciucă, who previously referred to a press conference requested of the candidate by the two parties, in order to clarify the problems evoked in the public space.

The discussions in the Coalition

The discussions held behind closed doors by the members of the PSD-PNL alliance and the public statements of the leaders leave room for doubt regarding the submission of Cătălin Cîrstoiu's candidacy to the Capital City Hall next Monday, as established in the Coalition.

Political sources stated for “Adevărul” that the PSD would support the candidacy of Cristian Popescu Piedone for the Capital City Hall, being aware of the fact that Nicușor Dan is in the top of preferences, above the candidate Cătălin Cîrstoiu proposed by the alliance.

The reorientation would also come in the context in which the PSD-PNL candidate, Cătălin Cîrstoiu, is already eroded by scandals that question the doctor's activity. Moreover, the image of the doctor is not better even in the polls, being constantly placed in third place. The data of a CURS survey quotes Cristian Popescu Piedone with a percentage of 38% of the votes, while Nicusor Dan has 27%, and PSD-PNL candidate Cătălin Cîrstoiu has 23%.
