“I saw in the Romanian newspapers or in certain political actors, (that) we came to sell Romania again, I don't know how many times the politicians keep selling it. Romania is in a period of more accelerated development. In fact, this is the big challenge: the macroeconomic sustainability of Romania at the moment rests on these investments. We have investments, after last year the second largest economic growth in Europe was based on figures for the first time in Romania not on consumption but on investments. We want to do the same thing this year and we have investments of almost 100 billion lei”, said Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu during the meeting with the representatives of the Romanian community in the United Arab Emirates.

The Prime Minister specified that during the working visit he had a series of meetings with important companies from the United Arab Emirates, with sovereign investment funds, stating that certain projects cannot be done: “than through public-private partnerships”. “The need for development has entered into a much more accelerated dynamic than everyone expected. We are losing these investments, no one is moving the Constanța port, but it will no longer be the most sought after as it is at the moment. It's all about speed of reaction and quick decision,” added the prime minister.

The Head of the Romanian Executive mentioned about the meeting held on Thursday with the President of the United Arab Emirates stating that they discussed a lot and “about the involvement and development they can do together“. “There is money, we have to have credibility to attract these amounts, there are opportunities…”, added the prime minister.

The Prime Minister said regarding the large number of Romanian residents in the Emirates that he would like them to return to Romania, especially the experts in the nuclear area, but that it is the duty of the state to first provide them with the necessary services in the country.

I wish you would come home, especially the experts in the nuclear area who at one point had a corridor and the state was not so smart to predict that these values of Romania will leave and migrate from Romania if the state neglects them. We also have reactors 3 and 4 to build. (…) We politicians must create the services you want, as I am trying to do with my colleagues. Because without education, without health, without major investments, you will never return home, because you have become accustomed to a certain standard, and it is normal to be like that, and I think that is actually our duty”, said Ciolacu.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that the Government will support the construction of an Orthodox church in the Emirates.

“I also had a discussion with the Patriarch, and we will get involved together to have an Orthodox church built this time from scratch. We still have discussions with the authorities regarding the land and it is a priority for the secretariat, for the cults at this moment, for the Government of Romania”, Marcel Ciolacu also said.
