Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was hospitalized in New York on Saturday after the Court of Appeals in the American metropolis overturned his 2020 conviction for rape and sexual assault.

The New York court's decision sparked outrage among the #MeToo movement, although Harvey Weinstein remains incarcerated on the basis of a separate 16-year prison sentence, pronounced for rape in California, writes Agerpres.
“The New York Department of Corrections deemed Mr. Weinstein to be in need of immediate medical attention,” his attorney, Arthur L. Aidala, said in a statement.
“A lot of medical tests are being carried out on him and he is being kept under observation,” said the same lawyer.
The American police told the press in the United States that Harvey Weinstein was transported to Belvedere Hospital in New York.
On Thursday, the New York Court of Appeals ruled that the trial judge erred in admitting testimony about acts other than those committed against the plaintiffs and ordered a new trial.
Harvey Weinstein, 72, was found guilty in New York Federal Court in 2020 of raping and sexually assaulting former actress Jessica Mann in 2013 and sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006. The Hollywood producer he was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
The #MeToo movement was sparked in 2017 by revelations about the behavior of this disgraced producer, whose influence on the Hollywood industry was once immense.
Since then, dozens of women, including Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, have accused Harvey Weinstein of harassment, sexual assault and rape. But the limitation period intervened in many of these cases.
