There is a tense situation in Health, and several hospitals in the country are on the verge of a general strike. Doctors and nurses are unhappy with the money they receive for guards, amounts that have not been increased for six years.
As a result, around 5,000 doctors and nurses will protest on Monday in Bucharest, first at the Government, then they will march towards the Ministries of Labor and Health and then the Parliament Palace. Traffic in the center of the Capital will be disrupted today by the doctors' protest.
The protesters want the increase to be more than 26% on the salary envelope, which also includes allowances and guards.
“The protest is also directed against the form of the last Emergency Ordinance regarding some wage increases in health, this being an ordinance of inequity and the incompetence of the issuers. We consider the fact that through this GEO a series of new wage inequities are created and some of the pre-existing ones”, say the protesters.
The program of the protest
It starts in Piața Victoriei at 11:00 a.m. with the first Health Meeting, which will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
-Continues with the first part of the Health March on Calea Victoriei to Piața Revoluții, between 12.00 – 12.30.
– Rally in Revolution Square and in front of the two ministries, Labor and Health, between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m. The protesters are asking both ministers to fulfill their assumed obligations and grant all the requested rights.
– The second part of the health march between 13.00 and 14.00 to Constitution Square. – Rally in front of the Parliament, between 14.00 and 15.00. The claims supported by the participants in the demonstrations – Respecting the right to indexation of salary income according to inflation. –
