Topics models for the 2025 baccalaureate exam
For subject I of the exam, students must read a text at first sight, which can be either a narrative text, or a descriptive, explanatory or argumentative text. After reading the text, the students will answer questions about understanding the content, the vocabulary used, the meanings of the words and phrases in the text and its structure.
This topic tests the ability of students to interpret a text, identify the main ideas and understand the message transmitted. The students will also be evaluated on the way they can argue and support their answers based on the elements in the text.
On June 10, 2025, the students who take the baccalaureate exam in the June-July session will give the written test in the Romanian language and literature-the test). This is the first written test during the national baccalaureate examination 2025 and will take place in all the examination centers in the country.
The structure of the sample – Romanian language and literature
Sample ea) is structured into three topics, each evaluating different skills:
- Subject I – thing with a text at first sight, which can be narrative, descriptive, explanatory or argumentative. Students must answer questions of understanding of the text, vocabulary, meanings and structure.
- Subject II – writing an argumentative text on a topical topic or related to the student’s personal experience.
- Subject III – writing a literary essay, in which students must analyze a studied literary work, characterize a character or discuss literary themes and techniques.
In order to become familiar with the typology of the subjects and the requirements of the exam, students can consult the topics models and the resolution scales published by the Ministry of Education. These are available on the official website of the ministry and on regional educational platforms.
Sample II: Writing an argumentative text
Subject II involves writing an argumentative text on a topical topic or related to the personal experience of the students. Usually, the theme concerns the importance of a cultural, social or educational subject.
Students must clearly and coherently argue their point of view, using concrete examples and references from personal experience or from the knowledge accumulated during studies. The evaluation of this subject will take into account the logical structure of the text, the grammatical correctness and the writing style.
Sample III: Literary essay
The last test of the exam written in Romanian language and literature is the literary essay. Students must write a text of 400-500 words, in which to address a literary theme related to the authors and works studied during the high school. For example, it may be required to characterize a character from a classic work or analysis of a poem.
The literary essay emphasizes the student’s ability to argue on the basis of solid literary knowledge, to analyze the structure of a work and to discuss the topics, characters and literary techniques. It is essential for the student to demonstrate a deep understanding of the work and to express clear and coherent ideas.
