The Ministry of Health draws attention to false information distributed online, which use the image of academic Irinel Popescu to promote conspiracy theories related to the anti-Covid vaccine.

The Ministry of Health issued on Friday, May 9, a message that draws attention to a new misinformation campaign that involves the name and image of Professor Irinel Popescu, a reputed surgeon and a member of the Romanian Academy.
On social networks, images and videos circulate in which the doctor appears talking about alleged serious effects of the Covid-19 vaccine, including so-called “deadly walking”
The Ministry of Health clarifies the situation: “Academician Irinel Popescu categorically denies the information that appeared in the public space on the dramatic effects suffered by numerous patients following the administration of anti-Covid vaccines”, Reports the ministry.
Officials warn that the materials distributed online, “Including the information that Professor Irinel Popescu has lost his life, are false, many of them being made with technologies aI ”.
In this context, the Ministry of Health calls on the population to carefully check the sources of information on vaccines and adverse reactions: “We recommend consulting the official websites of public institutions in the medical field-Ministry of Health, National Institute of Public Health, Public Health Directorates or National Agency for Medicine and Medical Devices”.
The authorities reiterate the importance of combating the misinformation and protection of the public image of health professionals, especially in the post-pandemic context, in which conspiracy theories continue to spread.
