Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Thursday, following a meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates and the head of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, that ensuring security in the areas of the two states will contribute to boosting trade relations and mutual investments. The Prime Minister specified, on a social network, that our country is committed to developing bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates.

“In peacetime we can build. Ensuring security in our areas will help boost trade relations and mutual investment is the conclusion of today's meeting with the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whom I thank for both the warm welcome and the openness had towards the strengthening of relations between the two states“, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said, according to the Government.
The Prime Minister specified, in a post on Xthat our country is committed to developing bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates.
“Romania is committed to developing our bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates within a high-level political and economic dialogue. Projects in energy, infrastructure, agriculture and food industry, Information and Communication Technology (IT&C) represent a solid basis for strengthening our cooperation between Romania and the United Arab Emirates“, wrote the prime minister.
Marcel Ciolacu mentioned, at the same time, that Romania remains engaged with the European Union, the USA and regional partners to contribute to the efforts to de-escalate the situation in the Middle East. In this context, the Romanian Prime Minister appreciated the balanced position of the United Arab Emirates and the call for restraint addressed to the two sides after Iran's attack on the State of Israel.
“Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu's visit to the United Arab Emirates also had a prominent economic component, through the series of meetings that the Head of the Romanian Executive and members of the government delegation had with other officials and representatives of some renowned Emirati companies for strategic areas of interest for Romania, such as transport infrastructure, energy, agriculture and digitization”, according to the Executive.
According to the quoted source, the discussions that took place in the plenary of the government delegations from Romania and the United Arab Emirates and in the framework of the bilateral meetings at ministerial level “open prospects for attracting new investments in Romania“. At the same time, the development of bilateral dialogue at the level of national companies was discussed, which resulted in the concrete exchange of bilateral agreements in the field of digitization and regulation in telecommunications.
“We encourage the development of joint strategic projects, which contribute to the economic development of our states, including within the periodic dialogue at the level of national leaders. We appreciate the interest shown here, in the United Arab Emirates, and by our dialogue partners, and we look forward to the third session of the Inter-Governmental Cooperation Commission, which will take place very soon in Bucharest, on April 26, and which remains a valuable tool for promoting institutional contacts“, declared Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
The Head of the Romanian Executive also reaffirmed Romania's support for the development of European Union relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council, evoking in this context the cooperation framework offered by the organization of an EU-United Arab Emirates investment forum in 2024 and the upcoming Forum at high-level EU-Gulf Cooperation Council regional cooperation and security meeting scheduled to take place next week.
