Education trade unionists are protesting in Parliament for the amendment of Education laws. More than 160,000 signatures will be submitted

June 25, 2026

The representatives of education employees will submit over 160,000 collected signatures to support a legislative initiative aimed at amending and supplementing the Education Laws (Laws no. 198/2023 and no. 199/2023). They demand the annulment of the provisions of Law no. 141/2025, which I say are harmful to the educational system.

The trade unionists demand the reduction of the number of students in the classes, the return to the previous didactic norms and the granting of an installation bonus for teachers who teach in disadvantaged areas.

They also demand the separate organization of the 8th grade and scholarships equal to the net salary of a beginning teacher for students with a teaching license with a double specialization or a teaching master’s degree, “correct calculation” for hourly rates in hourly payment mode.

Also, the trade unionists request, the high school students who won medals at the international Olympiads will keep their scholarship of excellence for the entire duration of their undergraduate studies in Romania, if they maintain their performance.

“We appeal to the parliamentarians of the Romanian Parliament, requesting them to urgently discuss this legislative initiative, so that the 2026-2027 school year begins in optimal conditions, both for the employees in education and for the direct beneficiaries of the education system”support the trade unionists.
