UTA Arad receives another blow in court. The club in preventive arrangement lost the case with an impresario and is obliged to pay 70,000 euros for a transfer made in 2023.
The Arad court decided that the UTA Arad Football Club Association, the entity that manages the SuperLiga team, must pay the FIFA agent Traian Gherghișan the sum of 70,000 euros, following a dispute related to the transfer of the Moldovan striker Virgiliu Postolachi.
Lost case for the transfer of Postolachi
The dispute originates in the summer of 2023, when Virgiliu Postolachi left UTA Arad for Grenoble Foot 38. The club from Arada claimed that the player was transferred for free and that he did not owe any commission to the agent, but the manager stated that there was a transfer fee established as early as 2022, when the footballer arrived in Arad.
Gherghișan brought Postolachi free of contract to UTA, and the agreement between the parties provided for the payment of a commission in case of a subsequent transfer. The tribunal found that this clause had been breached and found in favor of the agent.
Daily penalties and court costs
In addition to the principal sum of 70,000 euros, the court decided that UTA should also pay late penalties of 0.25% per day, calculated from the due date until the full payment of the debt. In addition, the club is obliged to bear 3,000 euros in court costs.
The decision was handed down on December 15, 2025, and UTA Arad has 30 days to file an appeal.
The debt will be paid through the reorganization plan
The amount will be paid to the impresario company G World Football Promotion SRL according to the financial reorganization plan, so that UTA does not risk, at this moment, forced executions.
According to the information published in the press, Grenoble Foot 38 would have paid the termination clause of 300,000 euros for the transfer of Postolachi.
“I hired a sports lawyer, and FRF confirmed that UTA collected money for Postolachi’s transfer. I am waiting to collect the amount determined by the court“, said the manager, quoted by Golazo.
UTA, pressed by huge debts to the state
The decision comes at an extremely delicate moment for the club from Arada, which is in a preventive arrangement and must pay, over the next three years, approximately 3.3 million euros to the state:
- about 658,000 euros to Arad City Hall, in quarterly installments of about 55,000 euros;
- approximately 2.65 million euros to ANAF, with quarterly installments of almost 226,000 euros.
