'It was only a matter of time': Eminem slays alter ego Slim Shady in new VIDEO album

One of pop's great alter egos could be coming to a grisly end, with Eminem announcing his first album since 2020, titled 'The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)', The Guardian reports.

The album is set to be released this summer and was announced with a trailer featuring the disappearance of Slim Shady. The video also features 50 Cent, who describes Shady as a psychopath.

Eminem himself also concludes: “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.” One image, possibly the album cover, shows a person with a knife wound to the chest.

Eminem created the character in 1997 to help him regain his strength after the failure of his debut album “Infinite” the previous year. Starting with a horror movie intro where Slim Shady takes control of Eminem's body, The Slim Shady EP made its way to mogul Jimmy Iovine and then Dr Dre, who began a collaboration that led to Eminem's release, The Slim Shady LP (1999).

Slim Shady was a violent, provocative and disgusting character who was introduced to the world with the single “My Name Is”. Eminem used the character to scandalize pop culture, with crude lines about celebrities including Christina Aguilera and offering violent “horrorcore” stories.

Eminem subsequently focused more on his depressive side for several years, particularly in the wake of drug addiction, on albums such as Relapse (2009) and Recovery (2010).
