For Ileana Stana Ionescu, life was “a long series of events”. He wanted to become a journalist, but the descent “unhealthy” prevented her. Only chance made her become an actress, although she had no training in the field. But talent guaranteed him a career of almost six decades and a safe place in “lodge” the great Romanian actors.
In an interview for “Adevărul”, the great actress confessed that she is “very grateful to fate, because she had an extraordinary youth, both personally and professionally”.
“Even if many blame the period before the Revolution, there were great advantages for culture. I worked a lot, learned a lot, walked a lot in this country that I got to know thanks to the theater. It was a beneficial period of my life and I consider that I was very lucky. Of course, there are also unpleasant parts…”said Ileana Stana Ionescu.

The actress said that her biggest regret is not having another child.
“I was always busy at the theater and I thought that a break to give birth to a child was not good. And now I’m very sorry… When he was little, my son, Andrei, always told me: . Anyway, the balance sheet is positive. I wish my younger colleagues to have a share of everything I had. I worked with great actors, with famous directors, I went all over the world with the theater… And the combination of personal and professional life was also extremely beneficial”said the great actress.

Ileana Stana Ionescu also spoke about the new generation of actors, about whom she said that “she is full of talents”.
“Unfortunately, these young people are not as lucky as we were: there are fewer offers, fewer performances, fewer opportunities for them to express themselves artistically. In addition, now there are too many theater schools, and the theaters do not have the absorption power for such a large number of performers. But I want to believe that, in a few years, this unpleasant situation that is now in culture will be normalized. I think we will return to some more generous directions, more advantageous for the public and the young generation”the actress hoped.
