Eichmann’s process, an educational project reached the second edition, is carried out annually with a new distribution of rigorously selected students and represents a remarkable example of combining theatrical art with deepening history knowledge.
After the remarkable success of the first project organized by the Laude-Reut Educational Complex-Mock Trial of Human Rights-the process of Ernst Rüdin, held in 2023 at the UN and in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies, Tova Ben-Cherbis aimed to turn this success into an annual tradition. Thus, Eichmann’s process continues to expand its educational impact, strengthening its role in the formation of civic consciousness and historical memory.
After the show, the students-students participated, as in the past years, in an educational visit to Berlin, where they explored key places of Holocaust, including Wannsee villa.
Shared through the uninterrupted vision and involvement of Mrs. Tova Ben-Lung Cherbis, president and founder of the Laude-Reut Educational Complex and the Magna Foundation Cum Laude-Reut, this project has come to life and flourished on multiple levels-from the educational project-the simulation of the process made with the students, to the students, to a complete work. From the beginning, the initiative has benefited from the constant support of numerous prestigious institutions in Romania, among which the Government of Romania, the Parliament of Romania, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and the School Inspectorate of the Municipality of Bucharest.
A decisive role in supporting this project had Mrs. Raluca Turcan, the Minister of Culture at that time, who, from the beginning, embraced the educational and cultural vision of the “Eichmann’s process” proposed by Tova Ben-Mint Cherbis, giving her the support needed to become a reality, including by supporting Eichmann. By his determined involvement to support this history lesson, the minister was a true engine of this approach, contributing to the transformation of the initiative of the Ben-Nun Cherbis to the large cultural event, by validating a project of national importance, meant to maintain the memory of history and to inspire future generations.
In order to amplify the impact of this cultural and educational approach, Tova Ben-Lung Cherbis initiated the inclusion of the play Eichmann in the repertoire of the Bucharest National Theater. Its premiere took place on October 4, 2024, under the coordination of the actor Mihai Călin, in the presence of the playwright Motti Lerner and was a success since the first performance.
By initiating and supporting the accomplishment of the work “Eichmann’s process” at the Bucharest National Opera, which had the world premiere on March 30, 2025, the idea and vision of the Ben-Lung Cherbis tova materializes at a time of cultural and educational peak.
Comrade Ben-Mint Cherbis, with the force of his inspiration, has transformed an idea into an international project, bringing together artists, historians, institutions and young people to play through opera, theater and education a crucial episode of history. The premiere of the work Eichmann’s process It is not only an artistic event, but the expression of a deep commitment to humanity, truth and justice. Through his tireless effort, the companion demonstrates that a single man, when he strongly believes in a case, can turn a history lesson into a valuable inheritance for future generations.
