Video Romeo Lungu, the PSD proposal to the Ministry of Development: “Those from USR are much worse than some MPs from AUR”

Romeo Lungu, proposed by the PSD for the position of Minister of Development, declared on Monday, June 22, after the hearing in the specialized commissions, that he did not negotiate with the AUR and that he could not prevent the parliamentarians of the formation from voting for the investiture of the Vestea Government.

“The PSD, within the two commissions, has 15 votes. I convinced four more parliamentarians, we had 19 in the end. There were 19 votes for and 18 against. (…) The AUR parliamentarians left the room.

I talked about the State Construction Inspectorate, where there are very few employees. There are many constructions in the counties, and they have less than 10 employees, there is a staff shortage.

There are three employees at the OPC (Office for Consumer Protection) in the entire county of Buzău. There are authorities that are understaffed and no one thought about this. The reform was done from the office and did not take into account such aspects”, he sent it to the journalists at the Parliament.

Romeo Lungu says that the administrative reform promoted by the government has not worked in practice, many measures have been contested and lost in court, and some institutions need additional staff, not layoffs.

He also states that he only found out the day before that he was proposed for the position of minister.

“I found out last night, during the National Political Committee at 4:00 p.m. I was proposed by the PSD. I read, I documented myself, but I know a lot of the problems of the national administration because I am a deputy and I am with people and representatives of local authorities every week.”

Asked by journalists about his relationship with Marcel Ciolacu, PSD president of CJ Buzău, Romeo Lungu says: “we’ve known each other for a very long time, but we’re not friends.”

Romeo Lungu also spoke about the experience gained in local and central public administration.

He says that he headed the Buzău County Sports and Youth Directorate, was vice president of the Buzău County Council, county councilor, employee of the Prefecture and member of the Public Administration Commission in the Chamber of Deputies.

How he responds to criticism about his studies

He rejects the criticisms related to his studies, invoked by USR deputy Radu Mihaiu during the hearings, stating that he can prove his qualifications with his graduation diploma.

“I graduated from Câmpina University College, which belonged to UPG, the Faculty of Letters and Sciences, and the courses were held at Câmpina. I will take my graduation diploma and show Mr. Mihaiu exactly what is written on it.”

Romeo Lungu says that he does not have a problem if the Vestea Government will also be voted by the AUR MPs.

“I cannot forbid some parliamentary colleagues from AUR, with whom I get along very well, including those from Buzău County, where we are colleagues, from voting. No one prays for AUR. I did not pray for AUR to give me their votes at this hearing.”

He also avoids saying that AUR is an anti-Western party.

“I had a hard time getting along with them at the beginning, but along the way they learned the parliamentary procedures. Those from the USR are much worse than some parliamentarians from the AUR. I personally did not negotiate with anyone from the AUR.”

Last but not least, he assures that PSD does not depend on AUR votes and that the result of the investiture vote will be seen on Monday night.

Starting at 21:30, the assembled plenary session of the Parliament will debate and vote on the investiture request of the Government led by Adrian Veștea.
