The Government approved, on Monday, the calendar of actions during the electoral period for the European Parliament and local elections, held on June 9, 2024. Thus, until April 10, 2024, it will be possible to submit and register candidacies for the elections for members of the European Parliament, and in between April 16-25, it will be possible to register electoral alliances in the elections for local public administration authorities. Candidates for the local elections can be submitted until April 30.

“According to the approved calendar, the electoral period begins on March 12, and within 5 days, at the latest on March 16, 2024, the judges from the Central Electoral Bureau will be appointed and the model of the permanent electoral list, the model of the special electoral list will be established , of the copy of the special electoral list, of the supplementary electoral list, of the extract from the supplementary electoral list, of the model of the list of supporters, of the model of the ballot for the election of Romanian members in the European Parliament from June 9, 2024“, the Executive sent on Monday.

The deadline for registering the diaspora in the special electoral lists
According to the quoted source, until April 10, at the latest, the applications for registration in the special electoral lists for the election of members from Romania to the European Parliament in 2024 will be submitted. It is about the citizens with the right to vote of the member states of the European Union, other than Romania, who have domicile or residence in Romania.
No later than April 10, 2024, 24:00, the candidacies for the elections for members from Romania in the European Parliament in 2024 will be submitted and registered, and within 24 hours from the registration of the candidacy, they will be forwarded to The National Council for the Study of Security Archives, the affidavits of the candidates regarding whether or not they had the status of Security workers or its collaborators.
On April 11, 2024, the lists of candidates and independent candidacies for the elections for Romanian members of the European Parliament will be made public.
Finalization of the candidacies for the European Parliament elections
On April 29, 2024, the candidacies for the elections for members of the European Parliament from Romania will remain final, and on April 30, 2024, the order number on the ballot papers of political parties, citizens' organizations belonging to national minorities, political alliances and electoral alliances that have submitted lists of candidates as well as independent candidates.
Until May 1, 2024, the declarations of wealth and interests of the candidates for the elections for members of the European Parliament from Romania in 2024 will be made public.
From April 16, 2024, the period for registering electoral alliances for the elections for the local public administration authorities in 2024 and submitting candidacies for these elections begins.
By April 15, 2024 at the latest, the presidents of the constituency electoral offices and their deputies will be appointed.
In a maximum of 10 days from the date of establishment of the constituency electoral offices, at the latest on April 25, 2024, the registration period of electoral alliances for the elections for local public administration authorities in 2024 will end.
April 25, the deadline for registration in the Electoral Register with the address of residence
Citizens with the right to vote who have established their residence for more than 6 months before the election date in the electoral district where elections are held will submit to the mayor, no later than 45 days before the election date, i.e. until April 25 2024, requests for registration in the Electoral Register with the address of residence.
Also on April 15, the registration period for electoral alliances in the elections for the local public administration authorities in 2024 ends.
No later than 40 days before the date of the elections, i.e. April 30, 2024, the granting of air time will be requested to the managements of public and private radio and television stations or, as the case may be, of their territorial studios, during the elections for the authorities local public administration.
April 30 is also the deadline for submitting candidacies for the local elections.
On May 8, 2024, the candidacies for the elections for local public administration authorities in 2024 remain definitive.
