Donald Sutherland, the famous actor known for his roles, died at the age of 88. Sutherland was particularly known for portraying the villainous President Snow in all four films in the series ““Hunger Games”alongside Jennifer Lawrence.
The actor died Thursday, June 20, in Miami after a long illness, CAA’s Missy Davy confirmed to People magazine.
Donald Sutherland has five children. He had a son, Kiefer, with his ex-wife Shirley Douglas, and three children – Roeg, Rossif and Angus – with his second wife, actress Francine Racette. He also had a daughter, Rachel, with Shirley Douglas, who died in 2020 aged 86.
In his long and varied career, Donald Sutherland starred in many notable films, including “M*A*S*H” (1970), where he played Hawkeye Pierce, and “Ordinary People” (1980). He also had major roles in Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) and the 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice opposite Keira Knightley.
In recent years, Sutherland has appeared in television series such as “The Undoing”, “Trust” and “Swimming with Sharks”.
After the death of the legendary actor Donald Sutherland, his son, Kiefer Sutherland, paid an emotional tribute to him. On Instagram, the “24” star said his 88-year-old father, “he loved what he did and he did what he loved.”
“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. Personally, I think he is one of the most important actors in film history,” Kiefer said on Instagram after the actor’s death, according to the DailyMail.
