“Congratulations to all our athletes, your coaches, your families, the Olympic Committee! I know how much work and sacrifice is behind the huge success. To those with medals, congratulations from the bottom of my heart, but also to those who participated! It is in itself a huge achievement . We are all very proud of you”Mircea Geoană sent in a video message, posted on Facebook.

He continued by stating that it is very “glad that justice was done to Ana Maria Bărbosu”.

“We have also gained a voice of the conscience of Romania’s youth, in David Popovici. In a strong and integral manner, David expresses not only the part that makes us happy, performance, success and shows us all what we know exists as a problem in Romania: we don’t have mass sport, we do not systematically invest in sports infrastructure, we do not have sport as a form of education and health for our entire nation”Geoană also declared, adding that “a nation that plays sports is a more educated, stronger nation”.

“Sport is part of what is the fundamental ingredient of a successful nation. We all need to get down to business”he concluded.
