The parties spent almost 200 million lei in the first six months of the year, more than half went to the press and propaganda

In just six months from the beginning of this year, political parties in Romania spent 198 million lei, i.e. 150% compared to the money received from the Permanent Electoral Authority.

Broken down, the parties received amounts between 52.1 million lei and 445 thousand lei from the Permanent Electoral Authority, according to the monitoring report published on Wednesday by Expert Forum.

Thus, Social Democratic Party benefited from 52.1 million lei, National Liberal Party collected 44.1 million lei in the accounts USR 23.8 million lei were transferred, GOLD collected 10.5 million lei, the Pro Romania party he collected 1.9 million lei again PMP collected an amount of 445 thousand lei, however, starting only in June.

In the first six months of the year, during which the parties received these revenues from the Permanent Electoral Authority, the political parties spent 198 million lei.

According to Expert Forum, all parties spent much more than they received. Thus, compared to the money received, AUR spent 274%, USR spent 178% and PNL spent 152%.

During this period, PSD allocated very little more than what it received in the first half of the year, and percentage-wise, PMP had the highest expenses during this period, approximately five times more compared to what they received, probably from savings.

At the same time, the Pro Romania party spent less than it received in June, being given only 67 thousand lei.

When and what the parties spent the most on

The largest expenditures were made in April and March, months in which 56 million and 35 million lei were spent, respectively.

Even if the parties had relatively different communication strategies, the subsidies spent on contracts intended for the press and propaganda budget line represent by far the highest value in the list of expenses of each.

Thus, in total, the largest amounts were spent on: press and propaganda (109.3 million lei – 55% of total expenses), political consulting (17.4 million lei – 8.8% of total expenses) , personnel (15.7 million lei – 7.9% of total expenses), political activities (12.7 million lei – 6.4% of total expenses) and opinion polls (11.8 million lei – 6 % of total expenses).

In total, the party that spent the most in the first six months of the year is PNL, which benefited from an income of 44.1 million lei from the Permanent Electoral Authority and spent 67.1 million lei, followed by PSD , which received 52.1 million lei and spent 57 million lei.

The next party in this hierarchy is USR, which spent 42.5 million lei and collected 23.8 million, then AUR, which collected 10.5 million and spent almost 29 million lei.

On the last two places are the Pro Romania Party and the PMP, which spent 67.4 thousand lei and 2.5 million lei respectively.
