Elon Musk has announced when SpaceX will launch the first flight of the Starship to Mars. The first ships will be launched without a crew to test the reliability of the landing.

“The first ships to Mars will be launched in two years, when the next Earth-Mars transfer window opens. They will be unmanned to test the reliability of landing intact on Mars,” Elon Musk wrote in a post on the X network.
Depending on these landings, manned flights will also be determined.
“If those landings go well, then the first manned flights to Mars will take place in 4 years. After this stage is completed, we will increase the number of races so that we build real cities for the next 20 years. It will be extremely difficult, but not impossible“, he also said.
Musk, who founded SpaceX in 2002, said he expects flight rates to “to grow exponentially” if the established dates will be respected.
Musk, 53, is known for his attempts to defy the impossible and has often succeeded where the odds seemed slim. But his vision of life on Mars pushes his ambitions to the limit.
“SpaceX created the first fully reusable rocket stage and, more importantly, made reusability economically viable. Making life multiplanetary is fundamentally a cost-per-ton issue for Mars. It currently costs about a billion dollars per ton of payload on the surface of Mars. This needs to be upgraded to $100,000/ton to build a self sustaining city there, so the technology needs to be 10,000 times better. Extremely difficult, but not impossible.” Elon Musk said in another message on X.
Musk has been talking about Mars for years. Through 2018, SpaceX released two sketches of a potential colony.
Elon Musk is on track to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027, according to a new report from Informa Connect Academy, a group that tracks the fortunes of the richest people.
