What additional leaves can military personnel request and how long are the leaves

Every calendar year, military personnel are entitled to a paid vacation, the duration of which is determined in relation to the length of service completed in the year for which they are granted.

Military personnel with more than 10 years of service are entitled to 38 calendar days of leave per year

According to Law no. 80/1995, Law no. 384/2006, GD no. 442/1992, with subsequent amendments and additions, and Order of the Minister of National Defense no. M.104/1999, vacations are granted as follows:

  • 32 calendar days, for those with up to 10 years of service;
  • 38 calendar days, for those with more than 10 years of service.

Those who carry out their activity in special conditions have the right, every calendar year, to an additional paid holiday, as follows:

  • 20 calendar days, those who are part of the navigational staff on turbojet and turboprop aircraft and those embarked on submarines, divers, as well as military officers and foremen flight instructors from military educational institutions;
  • 16 calendar days, those who are part of the navigation staff on piston aircraft and those embarked on torpedo boats or other similar ships established by order of the Minister of National Defense, as well as paratroopers;
  • 3-14 calendar days, those working in difficult or dangerous working conditions other than those mentioned.

Personnel who are part of the navigational staff of turbojet and turboprop aircraft, of the personnel embarked on submarines, torpedo boats and missile-carrying boats, divers, parachutists and personnel who directly perform protection missions and anti-terrorist intervention will perform, free of charge, 15 calendar days from the leave due to centers for restoring work capacity and strengthening health“, writes presamil.ro.

Officers, military foremen, non-commissioned officers, soldiers and professional ranks, who participate in external military actions, to combat international terrorism, in support of peace or for humanitarian purposes, are entitled to an additional 2.5 days of rest leave for each month of presence in the area of ​​operations.

If, for valid reasons, the additional vacation could not be taken during the calendar year for which it is due, upon returning from the mission, it will be granted in the following year, with all related rights. Additional rest leave not taken is not compensated in money.

Leave for personal matters and regular leave

With a duration of up to 10 days, permits are granted for personal problems, for certain situations and events, to which is added the time for traveling to and from home, as follows:

  • 5 working days: at the conclusion of the marriage; at the birth of children; when moving the family from one locality/garrison to another; in the event of the death of a family member, parents, brothers, sisters or grandparents of him/her or of the wife/husband;
  • 4 working days: in case of injury or serious illness of one of the family members;
  • 3 working days: for helping parents, infirm or elderly parents-in-law to solve major problems; in the case of the marriage of parents, children, brothers or sisters of the soldier, as well as of the wife/husband;
  • up to 3 working days: for other exceptional situations or events, likely to justify the requested permission; 10 working days: in the event of disasters that affected the residence of the person in question, his parents, in-laws or his children.

Permits are granted monthly, with a duration of 3 days, for:

  • traveling to the family – wife, husband, children, parents – in the event that they reside in another locality located at a distance of more than 300 km;
