Cristian Tudor Popescu has a favorite that he will credit with his vote in the first round of the presidential elections. His choice may seem surprising, considering that it is the president of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, whom he considers the only politician who has raised a major problem facing Romania.

“In the first round of the presidential elections, I will vote for Kelemen Hunor. Why? Because for two years now he is the only politician in Romania who always warns about the most serious problem of this country – depopulation: “If the trend continues, in 20 years we will have a big, beautiful, safe and empty country, because until today more than 5 million people left the country and the trend still hasn’t stopped. Plus, birthrate is a problem. We can build as many highways as we want, we can build what you want. One problem remains: and where will the citizens be, where will the people be?”according to CTP.

The journalist also referred to the post of European Commissioner obtained by Romania, through Roxana Mînzatu.

The Liberal Party, because it’s harder to call it National,
strongly criticizes the position assigned to Romania by the president of the European Commission: commissioner for Education, Skills, Jobs, Social Rights, Democracy.
That’s because their political rival, Ciolacu, promised the post of Commissioner for Economy and did not get it.

It is as normal as possible (Ciolacu’s words) that von der Leyen did not give us the Economy. Romania currently has one of the worst economic situations in Europe, and next year it will be even worse, after the electoral gifts distributed by government officials.

Mrs. Roxana Mînzatu’s portfolio is by no means “empty of content, zero, unimportant”, as PNL croons. How the hell can that be, when it has allocated 20% of the EC budget? I mean, 235 billion euros are given for nothing? Another problem is: how does Romania qualify to receive it? Education, Skills? The educational system, under the watch of Professor Iohannis, is an ongoing catastrophe, with incalculable consequences.

Social rights? The country screams in front of the injustices committed on the occasion of the recalculation of non-special pensions, while the special ones are well preserved. Jobs? Millions of Romanians left Romania; we have a record number of diaspora going to work abroad in the EU.

Demography? According to CIA data, with 14.6 deaths/1000 inhabitants, our country ranks 5th in the world in terms of mortality, and in terms of birth rate, with 8.5 births/1000 inhabitants, we occupy the 206th position out of 228 states. There is no need for Romania to go to war with foreigners, it is already in a war with itself, in which it loses thousands of people every year.

If it were based on the performances in the fields, I don’t know if we deserve any European commissioner post. Zero.

Liberal thinking also says: “The portfolio obtained by Ciolacu is not a victory, it is a failure. Romania did not need a commissioner with an honorary position, but a commissioner who can influence decisions on the areas that matter most to Romania”. It’s a sample of incurable Romanian temper, no matter how much Europe gets into us: the Romanian commissioner must not act professionally and fairly towards all EU countries, as is the job description, but be “Our man from Brussels” who goes there to put the blame on Romania’s cake.

And in the end, or, in fact, in the first instance, let’s not forget that we receive these positions in the leadership of the EU for the simple and essential reason that we are members of the EU, not because we have won any patriotism contest”, writes the journalist.

In its editorial on Facebook, CTP did not forget the current president of Romania, whom it catalogs “refusal to export”.

“In the old days, in Ceausist Romania, the prestigious brand considered better than what was or was not found in the socialist trade was “refused for export”. Mr. Iohannis clawed at all the doors of NATO and the EU just to give him a place to hide after he tried to break for Romania. He was sent to golf from all over the place. Now he believes that he deserves to be president of the Senate of Romania, as the country’s First Refusal to Export”concluded Cristian Tudor Popescu.
