Kelemen Hunor wonders with whom Marcel Ciolacu could share power, if he wins: “With Nicu or with Iohannis?”

The UDMR candidate for the presidential elections, Kelemen Hunor, commented on the latest statements by Prime Minister Marcel Ciucă regarding the sharing of power in case he wins, stating that he has a question: with whom? “With Nicu or with Iohannis?”.

Invited to Antena 3, the UDMR leader addressed several current issues in Romanian politics, also commenting on the statement of the PSD candidate for the position of president, Marcel Ciolacu, according to which, if he wins, he will appoint a prime minister from another party . Kelemen Hunor confessed that he wonders who could be the person with whom PSD would share power.

“When Marcel Ciolacu says that he will share power, excuse me and I repeat this every time, I also ask a question: with whom will he share power if he wins? With Nicu or Iohannis? I don’t think he will share power with Lasconi or Simion. He will appoint a prime minister, not from the PSD, he said from another party”, said the UDMR leader.

Regarding the intention of Klaus Iohannis to take over the leadership of the Liberal Party after the elections, Kelemen Hunor stated that this is very possible and that the result of the elections does not influence this possibility in any way.

“Probably yes, it is a variant both if Nicolae Ciucă wins the presidential elections and if he loses. (…) Do you have the impression that in these past years President Iohannis had no say in political decisions?”, he asked rhetorically, adding that President Iohannis “seek a field in politics”, and in PNL “is the field now.”

Regarding the scandal triggered in the governing coalition by the legislative proposal that would allow Klaus Iohannis to run for the Senate on the party lists, Kelemen Hunor believes that the UDMR cannot support either of the two parties and that this scandal must somehow be resolved between the PSD and PNL, especially since they hold the majority. As for the “Iohannis Law”, the politician said that the PNL could find another legal solution and he does not understand why the party’s lawyers opted for this one, which is neither constitutional nor correct from a political point of view.

“First of all, it is clear that at the moment, things are quite chaotic in the coalition. You cannot say that there is political stability in Romania. It hasn’t actually been around for over a year. Look at the budget, at everything that happened this year, and if that’s political stability, then let’s define chaos. How is chaos, if this is political stability?

It is not necessary for us to say what we will do, because they have the majority. PNL-PSD currently has a majority. I don’t even understand why they would ask for help from somewhere else, if they don’t get along, you can’t help either one or the other, because the majority at the moment in the Romanian Parliament for governance is PSD-PNL. Point. So they have to find a solution“, concluded Kelemen Hunor.
