The intervention took place after several citizens warned the police, signaling that a TIR, which was traveling on the AP-15 highway, in the direction of Pamplona, was driving carelessly, occupying both lanes and seriously endangering other traffic participants, according to La Razon publication.
The notification of the people was sent to the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC), which was conducting a security check nearby. The suspicious vehicle was stopped in traffic and it was found that the driver, of Romanian nationality, showed clear symptoms of being under the influence of alcoholic beverages. For this reason, the presence of agents from the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard was requested to perform the necessary alcohol and drug tests.
At the breathalyzer test, the Romanian driver presented a concentration of alcohol in the exhaled air eight times higher than the maximum limit established for professional drivers. He is now being investigated for offenses against road safety, for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
The limit imposed by the General Directorate of Traffic in Spain for professional drivers is 0.15 milligrams of alcohol per liter of exhaled air, according to the cited source.
