The miners and energy workers who protested on Wednesday, dissatisfied with the Pension Law, refused to talk with the Government representatives

The representatives of miners and energy workers who are protesting in front of the Government on Wednesday were invited to discussions with state secretaries from the Ministries of Labor and Energy, but they refused, the spokesman of the Executive, Mihai Constantin, said.

He specified that the protesters announced that they would submit a memorandum to the registry office.

“Today’s protesters in Piaţa Victoriei were invited to discussions at the level of state secretary from the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Energy and at the level of advisor to the prime minister, but, to our surprise or at least mine, they refused. They said that They will finish their protest by the time for which they have approval and submit a memorandum to the registry. We are waiting for it, we are reading it, we are reacting.”said Mihai Constantin, during a press conference at the Victoria Palace, writes Agerpres.

In the context in which the miners’ representatives would have announced that they want to meet the prime minister, Mihai Constantin replied that Marcel Ciolacu was present at the Government meeting. He added that even if the prime minister had attended the meeting, he would have been accompanied by the same experts who showed their willingness to talk with the protesters.

Hundreds of miners and energy workers are protesting in front of the Government headquarters on Wednesday, dissatisfied with the recalculation of pensions, but also with the situation in the energy system.

“There are about 400 miners and energy workers at this protest. Among the main grievances is the Pension Law, which is an electoral law. I understand that there are people with low pensions, but it is not normal as after decades of working in these activities , suddenly the state says: ‘You don’t have that pension anymore, but a much smaller one!’ but only part of that money!’ What is the contribution principle?“, the president of the National Mine Energy Federation, Dumitru Pîrvulescu, declared for AGERPRES.

The union leader specified that the protesters are also dissatisfied with the current situation in the energy system.

“Due to the overtaxing of coal power and the subsidization of green energy, we are witnessing a serious imbalance between the energy in the band and the sporadic energy, which leads to gigantic prices. Everyone blames God and not governments that do not take any action in this sense and who quickly shut down coal-fired power without putting anything in place, saying that it is expensive, but it is expensive in the context where more than half of the income we give to taxes for the budget, which does not happen with any commercial company”Pîrvulescu added.

According to him, the calendar of protests will be made “from close to close, going up to the general strike.”

According to a press release from the union organization, the new law on public pensions has negatively affected the most vulnerable categories of pensioners.
