“Qn the period 21.10.2024 – 14.11.2024, 14 shipments loaded with approximately 227 tons of waste (end-of-life trucks, used tires, plastic material, rubber, aluminum waste, from paper and cardboard sorting, used car parts, etc. .) and second-hand goods (clothing, footwear, mattresses, tires, etc.) were rejected upon entering Romania at border crossing points Borș II, Nădlac II and Vama Veche, by the commissioners of the National Environmental Guard – Bihor, Arad, Constanța county police stations“, the Environmental Guard informed on Facebook.
According to the information provided by the Environmental Guard, the documents presented at the border crossing points show that the waste and second-hand goods came from various commercial companies in countries such as Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Latvia, Italy and the Netherlands.
More than 200 tons of waste were stopped last month alone by the commissioners of the Environmental Guard.
In August, commissioners blocked a train with 28 wagons, loaded with 1,500 tons of iron and steel waste from the Czech Republic, at the entrance to the country. The company in Galati that was waiting for the shipment had to register it in the ROAFM online application at least 24 hours before.
