The incident took place on Sunday, in one of the polling stations organized for Romanians in Italy who want to vote in the parliamentary elections.
A 48-year-old man, who was not allowed to vote because he did not have all the necessary documents on him, became violent and managed to knock down a security guard, before being restrained and evacuated from the polling station organized within the Romanian Consulate in Rome.
Even outside the ward, he continued to make a scandal and complain about the fact that he was prevented from voting, according to Antena3.
“I can’t vote. I haven’t voted in my life in 48 years. Today, I said I’d go to vote too. But I can’t vote. I don’t vote anymore. That’s enough. I don’t vote anymore. I don’t want to hear about Romania anymore”, he muttered as he was escorted out of the consulate courtyard.
“Uncle, think that you have grandchildren and children. Think about their lives. I have my boy, who hurts the hell out of your Romania. You bastard! Oh, you morons, security, who are you. I put … (vulgar expression) in it from Romania”, he continued, addressing an out-of-frame person as he left the area.
Despite what was said, the man returned after a while with the necessary documents and voted.
According to the electoral law, in order for Romanian citizens residing in Italy to vote in the parliamentary elections, they must provide proof of residence in this country.
The staff of the Consulate in Rome had to explain to several Romanians that this is a procedure and that they choose, through this vote, their representatives in the Parliament in Bucharest.
