What to never take with you on a trip and what not to miss

Packing a full bag is one of the most difficult tasks before a trip. We tend to take more things than we need and the luggage becomes heavy. In the process of selecting things, the most difficult thing is choosing what not to take with us. Two travel experts share what items they wouldn’t take with them and what things shouldn’t be missing from their luggage.

Experts advise people to use all the space in the suitcase, saying that it is better to take the essentials, leaving aside the items that we will definitely not use, writes HuffPost.

Do not pack uncomfortable shoes

Shoes can’t be missing from our luggage, but we can’t take every pair of shoes we have in our closet. Experts say that it would be best to take only those pairs that are practical and comfortable and suitable for any activity on vacation.

Jill Whelan, Princess Cruises’ holiday ambassador, told HuffPost that she would never take uncomfortable shoes when she goes on a cruise or takes a land vacation.

“You’ll probably be exploring new destinations on foot, and the last thing you want is to have uncomfortable shoes and not be able to enjoy your activities”she said.

Jonathan Alder, founder of Jonathan’s Travels, emphasized the importance of the right shoes. Uncomfortable shoes can cause injuries and foot pain. If you can’t leave them behind, Alder recommends packing a bag of plasters, bandages, and salves that can help soothe your sore feet.

“There is nothing worse than being abroad and not having access to the medicines you need. I always prepare by packing essential medicines”Alder said. “Simple items like anti-inflammatory medication and Neosporin may not be available in the country you’re visiting, so it’s best to come prepared,” he added.

Both experts said you should make sure your devices are charged. It is also essential to have an external battery with you.

For Alder, a battery with multiple inputs and built-in charging cables is an “absolute necessity,” especially for global travel. “It’s essential to have an external battery that includes a kit of international adapters so you can plug it in anywhere and keep your devices charged”he pointed out.

“I always have an external battery for my phone,” she said. “The extra battery life is vital, especially if you have a busy day on vacation. Even if you don’t use it, peace of mind is everything”Whelan added.
