Former president Traian Băsescu says in an interview with ProTV.ro, about Călin Georgescu, that he is “a doughnut, a political pin”, and his government program is a copy of the communist model “from the 50s”.

Former president Traian Băsescu does not attribute too many chances to candidate Călin Georgescu in the presidential race on December 8. “So he’s a doughnut, a political stud. I mean, the man took something from the 50s of the communist governments in his programs, improved it with the statements from the Ceaușescu period and serves us an isolationist program that Romania has no way of following”explained the former president in a ProTV.ro interview.
Also, Traian Băsescu was optimistic about the second round of voting, when he says that Romania will no longer be as unprepared as it was on November 24. “Even if they say that the so-called sovereignist parties will support him, they must know that the difference between the European sovereignists and Călin Georgescu is huge. I wonder if the president of the AUR, whose party is in the European Parliament in the ECR, sees any element of compatibility between the European ECR and Călin Georgescu. There is nothing in common. It’s a fake”added the former head of state.
At the same time, Traian Băsescu pointed out that he realizes how “fragile” his support is, and that’s why candidate Cplin Georgescu “even avoids press conferences. That is, he cannot bear questions from political journalists. It would be a catastrophe for him, because he cannot support the theories in his program. I’m a fake.”
He is not the man of the Russians “he is trained in our institutions”
“So it’s a political charlatan that was technically supported through TikTok. The big problem is why no one from the great institutions of the country was caught. (…) We also come to the SRI. Look at its organizational chart, (…) this structure is subordinate to the prime minister”, said Traian Băsescu, showing in the case of the institutions that they either did not do their job, or “some are in partnership with this quack.”
At the same time, the former president denies the theory that it is a man of the Russians. “He is not one of the Russians. This man grew up in Romanian institutions, in the Ministry of the Environment, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was sent to represent Romania at the UN, in a committee for the environment. It was sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, not by anyone else. So it is not prepared by the Russians, it is prepared in our institutions”, Traian Băsescu also explained.
