Footage captured during the team’s home win over Cesena showed the moments after 21-year-old Romano Floriani Mussolini scored the only goal.

According to the images, Floriani, great-grandson of Benito Mussolini, dedicated the goal to his great-grandfather.

As the announcer shouts “Roman” seven times, dozens of fans seem to respond each time with the fascist salute and enthusiastic shouts of “Mussolini”according to The Guardian.

The football federation (FIGC) said it was looking into the matter. “The Federal Prosecutor’s Office (of the FIGC) will send a report on the incident to the Serie B sports judge for a decision”he declared.

This year, Italy’s top court ruled that the fascist salute is not a crime unless it endangers public order or risks reviving the banned fascist party.

The decision, prompted by an incident in Milan, came days after a video emerged showing hundreds of men giving fascist salutes during an annual gathering in Rome.

And the fans executed the Romanian salute, in joy after scoring the goal.
