The Romanians storm Italy. After Țucu at Genoa, another Romanian “screwed up” in Serie A

The American investment fund Presidio is the new owner of the football club Hellas Verona (for which Florin Răducioiu and Adrian Mutu played in the past), the team being now ranked 17th out of 20 in Serie A.

The Texas-based fund’s announcement states that Maurizio Setti has sold 100% of the club’s shares but will remain a director. Romanian Christian Pușcașiu is part of the Presidio group, along with Karl Schade and Victor Masaya. The Romanian has been a private and public equity investor for more than 25 years.

The rumors from early January have been confirmed. Owner Maurizio Setti has sold his entire stake in Hellas Verona, held through his company Star Ball, to American investment fund Presidio Investors.

Today came the official announcement: “Presidio Investors, a private equity firm based in Austin, Texas, and Maurizio Setti are pleased to announce that Presidio has acquired 100% ownership of Hellas Verona Football Club“.

Setti will remain in the role of “expert advisor”. Verona, as part of the transaction, was valued at 120-130 million euros. Presidio was advised by Deloitte and Hogan Lovells, while Setti was backed by Deutsche Bank and Unilegal.

Hellas Verona will fight to stay in Serie A with Cagliari (Răzvan Marin), AC Parma (Dennis Man and Valentin Mihăilă), Răzvan Sava (Udinese) and with Genoa (Dan Șucu). In Genoa, Șucu bought the majority of shares (77%) from an American investment fund, 777 Partners.
