The writer Constantin Abăluţă died at the age of 86, announced the Bucharest-Poetry Branch of the Romanian Writers’ Union. He published a large number of volumes being permanently concerned with literature of all genres and especially with poetry.

Constantin “Dinu” Abăluţă was born on October 8, 1938 in Bucharest. He graduated from higher education in architecture in Bucharest and practiced this profession for a short time, then dedicating himself to literature. He was a remarkable poet, prose writer, playwright and translator.
He made his publishing debut with poetry in 1964 and published a large number of volumes, being permanently concerned with literature of all genres and especially poetry. He translated numerous volumes of poetry, especially from English and French, among the authors translated by him being: Edward Lear, Thomas Roetke, Frank O’Hara, Wallace Stevens, Dylan Thomas, José Eduardo Mendes Camargo, according to the Bucharest-Poetry Branch of Union of Writers from Romania.
“This is probably his last photo. I did it to him on October 26, 2024. I can say with all conviction that he lived until the last moment for Poetry! I have lost an irreplaceable friend, and Romanian Literature says goodbye to a very important writer. God rest you, Dinule!“, wrote on Facebook, the writer Valentin Busuioc, member of the Union of Romanian Writers.
He received numerous awards
For his poetry and translations, Constantin Abăluţă received numerous awards, four of which were offered by the Union of Writers. In 2023, he received the Opera Omnia Award of the Bucharest-Poetry Branch of the Writers’ Union. He was awarded the National Order “For Merit” in the rank of knight in 2000. Some of his plays were staged at the radio theater.
Among his volumes of poetry: “Light of the earth”, “Stone”, “Psalms”, “Exists”, “Loves”, “Travels”, “Objects of silence” (anthology), “Standing”, “Marina in -a brain”, “The road of the ants”, “Pessoas’s mole”, “Terrace”. He also wrote poetry in French, some of the volumes being published in France.
“I am sad to say goodbye to my old colleague and friend Dinu Abăluță. One of the first writers I met who encouraged me in my teenage lyrical endeavors. We traveled several times together in the country and abroad, to literary events. I visited him in his “tower” where he also housed his artwork. I will keep a beautiful memory of him. God rest him“, Horia Gârbea, president of the Bucharest-Poetry Branch of the Writers’ Union, said on Facebook.
“With the disappearance of Constantin Abăluţă, Romanian literature suffers an irreparable loss“, he added.
