During the weekend, the Bucharest National Opera launched on its Facebook page a campaign in which the spectators and fans ask what the elegance at the opera means and what clothing should be addressed. The reactions were of the most diverse, so after only two days the post was deleted.

As the representatives of the Bucharest National Opera said, “The #Cumneimbracamlaopera campaign is more than just a style guide – it is a celebration of refinement, respect for art and the joy of connecting with beauty in all its forms. Whether we opt for an elegant dress, a well -tailored suit or just an accessory that reflects our attention for the occasion, the way we present ourselves to an opera show is a form of respect for artists, of the public and, above all, towards ourselves ”.
By public posting on Facebook, the ones from the National Opera asked two questions to the spectators: “What does elegance in the work mean to you? What is your soul outfit for such events? ”
And the post has sparked a wave of pros and cons, with hundreds of comments, appreciation and distribution. The deletion of the post after only 48 hours by the representatives of the Bucharest National Opera shocked.
“As a man who has dedicated his entire life to the study of classical music, I can say that everything that interests me in the showroom is the common sense for me, does not mean elegant dresses and smart-casual shoes, but quiet, respect for personal space. and the absence of light of the mobile phone screens during the show. The rest are just things that discourage the young public potential to step into such institutions. The conductor, instrumentalists, soloists and ballerinas do not see what the public is dressed in. The respect for their work is felt by the presence in the hall and by the discipline of the public ”Emma Niță wrote at the Facebook post.
In turn, Alex Hüzün, showed that: “The art does not belong to the elite and the snobs, but it should be permissive. In the Scandinavian countries there is no thing and yet you cannot call them non -observable. Do you want educated people next to you? Be permissive. You would better work on the program that the same shows are repeated for 10 years than to make discriminatory articles ”.
Another comment came from Melinda Teohari: “You seem to be a bit bipolar. Finally do you want elegant or smart casual outfits? And do you want people to come to the shows or throw the money on the outfits they will wear from time to time? That is, an extra and useless expense. Or do you want to stay anchored in the past, in which people went to the work to display their outfits and less to enjoy the artistic program? Isn’t it easier to refuse people who come to slabs and shirt? ”
“Do you want to show your good ones? Go to the musicians ”
“I think that more respect for artists would be if they were forbidden to adorned in pearls and diamonds to enter the big hall with champagne and food glasses, to talk, to take pictures or even video and to laugh during the shows. This thing is happening more and more often in recent years fixed in the public on the central ground floor, where the ticket is 300-400 lei. At the Nutcraft on December 29, he laughed in row, someone else made (fair) of row 14, heard the whole room. They broke all my experience. Also in row 7 was filmed with the phone. Behind me some young people in the suit with champagne glasses spoke the whole show ”wrote on Facebook and Elena Șerban.
A reaction also had Mădălina Barbu: “There are also people with not very good material possibilities, who want to see a show at the opera. You just don’t expect to buy special outfits for the occasion. As long as they come decent dressed, I don’t see the problem. I see nothing wrong with coming dressed casually. Do not come to sports clothes that you do not go to football, but you do not put your dress with a train/strap and louboutin. And another important aspect, I do not know if you have noticed, but both the artists and the thirsty culture people, have a modest dress style, they do not like to state. Do you want to show your good ones? Go to the musicians ”.
Iulia Albu: “The Romanian work must focus on attracting its public”
“Adevărul” also spoke with the designer Iulia Albu, one of the most appreciated and approved fashion critics in Romania.

“Access to the arts of the show should not be limited according to the outfits that a person allows or not. Most of the consumers of such shows are supposed to be young students who cannot dress ridiculous, in the evening, when they come to a show. Is the choice of each one if they carry a elegant outfit or casual. It is definitely inappropriate to go to slabs, T -shirt and bermuda to the opera. Anyone who wants to go, including a street man who raises money for a few weeks, should go. In all the showrooms in the world there are rules, including the type of bag you can come with, in the sense that you cannot bring a panel. Of course, you cannot post your shoes in inappropriate places or have inappropriate manifestations, as with some influences in Romania, in desperate attempt to become or become relevant. The Romanian work must focus on attracting its public, not to remove it with such ridiculous rules. A public education is also required ”said Iulia Albu for “Adevărul”.
