The National Museum of History of Romania (MNIR) has, starting on Thursday, a new interim director, in the person of the researcher Ovidiu Ţentea. Former manager, Ernest Oberlander-Târnoveanu, was dismissed by the Minister of Culture after the theft of artifacts in the Dacian treasure exhibited in the Netherlands.

The National Museum of History of Romania posted on Facebook a message that transmitted that, starting Thursday, February 13, the new interim manager of the institution is the researcher Ovidiu Ţentea.
Ovidiu Ţentea (b. June 4, 1974, Dumbrăveni, Sibiu County), a second degree researcher in the Archeology Section of MNIR, is a recognized specialist in the field of ancient history and archeology, with a professional experience over 25 years in research, museography and management of cultural heritage.
He graduated from Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (1997), has in-depth studies, doctorate in ancient history and archeology (2008) and postdoctoral studies at the Romanian Academy (2011-2013).
MNIR also informs that over time Ovidiu Ţentea has occupied the following positions:
* Scientific researcher Grade II at the National History Museum of Romania (since 2003)
* Associate scientific researcher at the Center for Roman Studies, Babeș-Bolyai University (since 2007)
* Associated teacher at Babeș-Bolyai University (2023)
* Previous experience as a museographer at the National History Museum of Transylvania
Expertise and skills
* Expert archaeologist, registered in the Romanian Archaeologists Register
* Expert in mobile heritage goods – Ministry of Culture
* Coordinator and scientific responsible of major archaeological projects
* Extensive experience in preventive and systematic archaeological research
* Involvement in the elaboration of legislative documents and regulations on cultural heritage

* Member of the National Commission of Historical Monuments
As for research and publications, is:
* Author and co-author of 5 scientific volumes

* Involved in important research projects at national and international level.
As a museographic experience (exhibitions), they are to be remembered: curator of the exhibition “Sarmizegetusa – the first city of the Roman Dacia”, contributions to the organization of the exhibitions “Romania – overlapping civilizations” and “Dacia Augusti province”.
Through his activity, Dr. Ovidiu Țentea contributed significantly to the understanding of the historical heritage of Romania and to its promotion in the academic and museum.
The Minister of Culture, Natalia Intotero, announced on January 28 that he asked the former director of MNIR, Ernest Oberlander-Târnoveanu, to resign, but that he refused, so he did the termination of Ernest Oberlander-Târnoveanu, with a term of 15 days of notice. She motivated her measure by the fact that the manager communicated defective and was surpassed by the management of the situation created by theft of the valuable heritage customs that were part of the Dacian treasure.
