The Finprotect Association starts the financial education in schools: the first workshop for students at the Gymnasium School no. 197 from Bucharest

Consumer Protection Association in Financial Services, Finprotectofficially launched the Financial Education program in schools, organizing the first workshop for the fourth grade students, on February 10 and 11, 2025, in collaboration with Prbar Academy.

The event took place at the Gymnasium School no. 197 from Bucharest and offered the children an interactive experience of learning the fundamental economic concepts.

Finprotect Association It is an association dedicated to the defense of consumer rights in the field of financial services, having as main objective the correct information, professional consulting and supporting equitable relations between consumers and financial products suppliers. The association covers essential areas such as insurance, banking sector, private pensions and capital market, following the application of modern and adequate legislation for consumer protection.

The workshop was supported by Ionuț Verzea, representative of the Bank and IFN department within Finprotect, who guided the students through a practical exercise of simulating a real economic environment. The children were organized in teams, each functioning as a small enterprise. During the activity, they had well -defined roles, from CEO to product designer and distributor, being actively involved in the process of creating, promoting and “sale” of the products.

Students have discovered through the game how important the work is organizing, how economic mechanisms work and why income differs depending on the role of each in a company. Their enthusiasm was incredible, and this practical experience helped to understand how money circulates in a real economy

The educational project was supported by 123credit.ro, the first Romanian bank consulting, Intaro Insurance Services SA, InfoSig Claim and Groupama Asigurări. The project partners have expressed their desire to contribute to increasing the level of financial education among children.

According to Dir. Prof. Stupinaru Stefania Ramona, Fintech activity has generated joy and involvement within the students’ classes, due to the interactive theme: I noticed the interest of the fourth classes to work for the profit of the team, but also their loyal competition.

According to the coordinating teacher of the activity, Prof. Stan Cristina Mihaela, the workshop was an essential practical lesson for children. “Early financial education is the key to developing responsible thinking. Through such activities, students not only learn theoretically, but also directly experience the mechanisms of the economy, preparing better for the future.”

Finprotect aims to support financial education as an essential tool in developing a better informed and protected society, said Mr. Robert Cretu, vice president of Finprotect, on financial education issues.

The Finprotect project will continue in other educational units in Bucharest and in the country, strengthening financial education as an essential part of the training of students.
