Romania has entered the presidential fever. What are the steps to choose a new president

The electoral period for the presidential election began on February 18th. On February 20, the Central Electoral Bureau will be constituted, and the election campaign will start on April 4 and will end on May 3. The first round is organized on May 4, followed by the second, on May 18.

The Central Electoral Bureau is on February 20. On February 22, the bulb will be completed with the president and vice -presidents of the Permanent Electoral Authority and with a representative of each parliamentary political party.

On February 23, the submission is concluded at the Central Electoral Bureau of the Protocol for establishing the electoral alliances, and on February 27, the rules for conducting the election campaign are established by the audiovisual programs services.

Submission of candidates

The candidates can be filed until March 15. Within 48 hours from submitting the candidacy, at the latest on March 17, the registration or rejection of the registration of candidates or electoral signs takes place.

At the latest on March 18, the candidates, the political parties, the organizations of the citizens belonging to the national minorities, the political alliances, the electoral alliances and the voters can file appeals to the RCC regarding the registration or rejection of the registration of the candidates or the electoral signs, as the case may be.

On March 19, the CCR resolves the appeals, by definitive decisions. It is immediately communicated to the Central Electoral Bureau and is published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I.

Also until the date of the definitive stay of the candidates, at the latest on March 19, the candidates can give up the candidacy

On March 20, the candidates and electoral signs remain final. The communication to the county electoral offices, the electoral offices of the sectors of Bucharest and the Electoral Bureau for the voting sections abroad and the definitive electoral signs, in the order were submitted. Within 48 hours from the date of the definitive stay of the candidates, on March 22, the order of registration on the ballot will be established. BEC communicates the order of registration in the voting bulletin of the candidates and their electoral signs to the Constitutional Court of Romania and the Autonomous Directorate “Official Monitor”.

The election campaign and vote

The election campaign begins on April 4 and ends on May 3, at 7:00, according to the decision on the presidential calendar, published in the Official Gazette.

On May 2, from 7:00 (local time) at 9:00 pm (local time) is the first day of voting abroad. On May 3, between 7:00 and 21:00 (local time) is the second day of voting abroad. On May 4 is the third day of voting in the diaspora. The urns open at 7:00 (local time) and close at 21:00 (local time or local time, as the case may be). On Sunday, the voting ends at 21:00 local, but not later than the local time of Romania 21:00.

On May 4, 7:00, the voting in the country begins. Sections will close at 21:00.

For the second round, the election campaign will start on May 9 and will end on May 17, at 7:00. The elections in the country take place on May 18, between 7:00 and 21:00.

The vote abroad will also take place during three days: Friday, May 16, between 7:00 – 21:00 (local time), Saturday, May 17, between 7:00 – 21:00 (local time) And Sunday, May 18, between 7:00 (local time) – 21:00 (local time or local time, as the case may be).
