According to the estimates of the Infotrafic Center, the busiest roads will be DN1, especially on the Ploiești – Comarnic – Bușteni segment, the A1 Bucharest – Pitești highway, DN7 (Valea Oltului) and DN6 towards Alexandria.
Chief Commissioner Ramona Tudor told Freedom that traffic values will intensify from Thursday afternoon, will remain lifted throughout Friday and reach a new peak on Monday, when most Romanians will return from vacation. She also mentioned that traffic, although crowded, should not lead to major blockages, and on Thursday morning the traffic was carried out under normal conditions.
Authorities point out that DN1, especially in the area of Comarnic and Bușteni, as well as the Olt Valley and the A1 highway will be the most requested routes during this period. In this context, drivers are advised to plan their route in advance and consult the traffic information before starting on the road.
Tips for drivers
“To show respect for other traffic participants, not to ring for no reason, to give priority to those who are entitled to have priority”, The chief commissioner Ramona Tudor said. At the same time, she warned that it is essential for drivers to avoid any activity that can distract them from driving, such as using the mobile phone.
Police representatives also recommend that traffic participants signal before any change in tape or direction, do not engage in overcoming car columns and not steering wheel if they have consumed alcohol or prohibited substances.
Student holidays could reduce Monday crowds
Officials also estimate that, due to the students’ holiday, some of the Romanians will extend their Easter stay, which could lead to a more balanced distribution of traffic over several days. “It is possible to divide the traffic values in several days and not necessarily have a fluency problem, because there is also the students’ vacation and it is possible for adults to extend their vacation and not return all months, where they spent Easter.”, Stated Ramona Tudor.
Students are on vacation since April 18, Friday, until April 27, which gives families more flexibility in travel planning.
