Intel informed China’s customers last week that certain chips will require export license if they meet certain strict technical criteria. According to the information published by the Financial Times, quoted by Reuters, the license will be required in the case of processors that have a total DRAM band width of at least 1,400 gigabytes per second, an input-output (I/O) band width (I/O), or at least 1,100 GB/s, or a total combination of at least 1,700 GB/s.

According to the report, the Gaudi chip series from Intel and the NVIDIA H20 are far surpassing these specifications.

This decision comes just one day after Nvidia has announced that it is expecting a financial impact of $ 5.5 billion as a result of the restrictions imposed by the American authorities on processor exports you adapted to the Chinese market. On the same day, the Dutch giant ASML, producer of equipment for the manufacture of chips, has expressed concern about his financial prospects.

Intel representatives did not offer an immediate comment.

Intel shares concluded Wednesdays by more than 3%, affected, as with other titles in the technological sector, the new uncertainties related to the United States commercial policy.

The market for artificial intelligence chips, which has experienced a significant advantage over the last two years, begins to lose from the momentum, against the background of commercial tariffs and fears about the reduction of investments from the big TECH companies.
