The desperate call of the parents: “Drugs are the rule. You can find them in good schools, but also in villages”

The Federation of Parents in Romania points out that Vlad Pascu, the drug driver who killed two young people by car, and now Rareș Ion, the name of the dead young man from an overdose, “there are only two names from a phenomenon that completely get out of control”. Urgent measures are required.

Parents who work in the Brigade of Anti -Drug Parents, a structure part of the National Federation of Parents -Edupart, draw attention, in a Facebook post, that Vlad Pascu, the drug driver who killed two young people by car, and now Rareș Ion, the name of the dead young man after an overdose, two characters, “There are only two names from a phenomenon that completely get out of control.” Subsequently, the Federation of Parents in Romania also launched an appeal to several national institutions, requesting to adopt concrete measures to reduce the phenomenon of drug use among children and young people.

“Our children have been drawing on their nose for 12 years. No, it’s not an exaggeration. It’s a reality”

While politicians are arguing for functions and appearing on television to talk about hot water, who has wronged a vote or who has put their wrong sap, in schools, high schools, on the streets, our children have been drawing on the nose for 12 years. No, it’s not an exaggeration. It’s a reality. And she’s a scary one.

It goes, consumes pills, seeks adrenaline and validation. I don’t hear his parents anymore, he doesn’t see school anymore, no one touches no more empathy. They are alone. Raised by screens, motivated by likes and pushed to extremes by a society that abandon them daily. Three hours a day with the family – in the best case. And those spent in silence, each with their eyes on the phone. The rest of the time is complemented by the entourage, the lack of control, the trafficking of influence and the trafficking of substances ”I draw the attention of the parents, who simply feel helpless.

Depression at 14, 16 or 18 is increasingly common, because teenagers are alone, say parents in the Anti -Drug Brigade, noting that for Rareș, the young man three days ago due to an overdose, the help came too late, but for our children it is time to do something.

Drugs are no longer the exception. Are the rule. You can find them in big cities, in marginal neighborhoods, in good schools, in the villages where grandparents do not know how to protect their grandchildren. Rural Romania does not dig, scroll. Urban Romania does not educate, it hides. Real Romania has no time for children. (…) Drugs are not just a vice. I am a sentence to death with false smile ”, It is said in the post.

The decision makers, on the other hand, are invited, if they care “truly”, to go to Calea Moșilor, but also to Ferentari, Rahova or other bordered neighborhoods of the big cities, to talk to the students from the village schools and, above all, to ask if they would feel safe “.

Romania does not only need promises. It needs courage, applied laws, real centers for addicts, psychologists in every school and adults who no longer close their eyes. Rareș is no longer. Others can still be saved ”, I still attract the attention of the parents.

“About 800 parents were registered from all over the country. I was shocked”

The Anti -Drug Parents Brigade is an initiative that appeared within the County Association of Parents Brasov almost two years ago. The initiator, in the meantime became the leader of the Federation of Parents of Romania – Edupart, Cătălin Nan, explained that he appeared as a necessity. “Many parents came to me, from Brasov. And as I initiated it, how about 800 parents from all over the country registered, everything exploded. I was even shocked. Going to the Federation, I met Mr. Țone (n. Red. – Anti -drug expert Cătălin Țone) and started collaborating, doing events with the Anti -Drug Brigade. Now, at the Federation, I set up an entire anti -drug department ”, Nan is explained.

In Brașov county structure, the actions continued, being organized meetings with parents, meetings with students in schools and even meetings in health units.

We try to straighten the parents to specialized help, because the parents are very scared, I do not know who to address. To call 119 – on the child’s phone, go to DGASPC, go to the anti -drug, … parents do not know in which direction they should go. And then, depending on the situation, we try to guide them as much as possible. Mr. Țone helps us a lot. It is not an entity with legal personality, it is more a concept in which we met more ”, added Nan.

Meanwhile, parents have started working on a program, Romania Anti -Drug, together with specialists, with measures to end the authorities.

We try, through the Federation of parents, to carry this program to the authorities. Only this problem was put on a little, because Ancpdda (n. Red. – National Agency for Coordination and Policies in the field of drugs and addictions was now set up. And we are in discussions with them, even today they called me from the Government, because they are interested in this program and specialists and to help them as we can ”, Cătălin Nan detailed.

Parents hope that things will move faster than before and the ministries will not give each one to the other, the new structure being in the direct subordinate of the Prime Minister. However, it is right, and the risk that things will happen all Romanian.

“Many times when you want to bury something you do a commission. We hope it is not the case”, said Cătălin Nan.

“The solutions are very few and minimal”

At this time, states the president of the Federation of Parents in Romania, parents who have a drug -consuming child at home have very few solutions to offer them. “Honestly, the solutions are very few and minimal. More than self-educating you as a parent and staying non-stop next to the child … I talked last week with a parent who went through it. He put the child on the bus, he had to go down three stations, where he was waiting for him. Cheap, some combinations of chemicals and poisons and misery are made so that they can sell them for 5 lei, for 10 lei, it is something indescribable ”, Nan said.

“Rareș is no longer. Romania is still silent!”

Meanwhile, the National Federation of Parents of Romania – Edupart launched, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, and officially an appeal to the main institutions in Romania – the Government of Romania, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, DIICOT, the National Authority for the Prevention and Combating drugs and mental health of young people as a national priority.

Edupart demands that ANPCDDA become quickly functional (at this time there is only on paper, without concrete actions to carry out).

“Rareș is no longer. Romania is still silent!

A beautiful child, passionate about science, with clean dreams and bright eyes. On April 15, 2025, at only 20 years old, Rareș was found without life, alone, in an apartment in Bucharest. Cause: an overdose. Just a day before he had been to the hospital. He left on signature. It was not held, it was helped. Was allowed to return to a world that could not save it. I lost a child. Again.

It is not an isolated case. It is just one of the thousands of young people who fall, every year, prey to a silent network of carelessness, traffic, ignorance and lack of reaction. It is the voice that no one has heard before. The cry of a child we all lost. And maybe the hardest thing is that … it’s no shock. It’s no longer new. Became a habit.

Romania begins to get used to the death of its children. In a pressing silence, in which the parents cry in silence, the teachers close their eyes, and the authorities pass the responsibility. Rareș was just one of the thousands of teenagers trapped between screens, entourage and loneliness. Children who seek attention, acceptance, an outstretched hand. But I only receive indifference. At 12 they hide in the darkness of social networks. At 13 hunting pills. At 14, I pull the nose. At 16 they are already invisible. And at 20, some are no longer ”, I say the parents, in the statement sent by the Federation of Parents in Romania.

Romania urgently needs a functional prevention network, support centers, permanent campaigns and interventions in each county. We are waiting for a clear national strategy, applicable, adapted to the reality of schools, communities and families ”, Edupart said.

“We ask for real support centers, not empty words”

The parents’ organization also appeals to the mayors, school principals, policemen, psychologists, priests, parents and educators not to shut up.

Stop silent! Stop closing your eyes! Stop postponing! Every lost day means a life in the minus. Today we are not allowed to cry in silence. Today we must assume the blame, responsibility and especially the action. We have no time. We are no longer allowed to lose any children. To be the last rare. There is no other face to cry in secret. We ask for real support centers, campaigns that arrive in each school, psychologists in each institution, investigations where traffickers are heading, laws applied, protection, prevention and involvement. And we ask for respect for parents. Real support, no empty words. We want to be able to save our children. Help us not to lose them. Rareș is no longer. But his voice rang through every parent holding his child tightly to his chest. Through every teenager who struggles with his own demons, behind a smile on Instagram.

Romania, it’s time to stop silent! For rareș. For every child who can be saved ”, They sent parents from the Federation of Parents in Romania.

Teenager passionate about science, young deleted drugs

The death of the young Rareș Ion terrified the parents in Romania who learned that, seven years ago, the pre -adolescent amaze with his intelligence and interest in science. He was provided with a bright future, only in the meantime he entered the entourage that introduced him into a drug world. Rareș was friends with Vlad Pascu, the young man who, who was drugged behind the wheel, killed two young people by car, in May 2. Even after what happened with Vlad, he failed to get rid of the passion of drugs. He struggled with addiction, told his attempts in live broadcasts on Tiktok, so Rareș was a well-known name among teenagers and young people in Romania.
