At the age of 56, the former world boxing champion and national champion in Rally was transported on Saturday, April 26, with an emergency with a SMURD helicopter from Hunedoara to Bucharest, after suffering a severe internal bleeding. Admitted to Intensive Care, in a special reserve, Mihai Leu is going through a critical period, and his health keeps a whole country with his soul.
A harsh diagnosis: cancer, long race opponent
The champion’s health problems are not new. In 2014, Mihai Leu was diagnosed with a terrible disease – colon cancer, which changed the course of life. There followed a difficult medical career, sprinkled with surgery and treatments, culminating with a new complex operation in December 2024, after the disease recurred, also at Fundeni Hospital.
Despite the harsh news, Leo chose to continue his fight at home in Romania, being treated by an elite team, coordinated by the reputed Prof. Dr. Irinel Popescu.

In the last days, Mihai Leu’s health has been significantly damaged, and his condition became critical again, which required his emergency transport to Fundeni Hospital.
