An appreciated neurosurgeon explained why his colleagues are still tempted to leave the country. The reasons are no longer related to money or equipping from the sanitary units, which the governors think, but the lack of places. His post has gone viral.

The neurosurgeon Georgian Ciobotaru explains, in a post on his Facebook account, exposing realities that are usually spoken in whisper, that young doctors will continue to leave Romania. The reasons are no longer related to low salaries or lack of equipment in hospitals, as governors believe, but are the opportunities to build a career.
Even if the hospitals are modernized and the revenues of the doctors are, in Romania, relatively equivalent to those from abroad, the departures will continue. “That’s not why they leave. We predominantly leave the young people who have no jobs”explains Dr. Georgian Ciobotaru in his post.
The doctor presents the reasons for lack of perspective, especially for well -trained doctors.
“There are specialists who participate as fools at 10-15 exams on posts”
Dr. Ciobotaru claims that too many competitions are arranged, and young people participate “Like fools ” to 10-15 exams on posts “Who are not for them”when the problem could be solved by organizing a unique national competition.
“Why are there no places? That you have to go next to a dinosaur to organize post exam for you. There are specialists who participate as fools at 10-15 exams on positions that are not for them. And they go all over the country for nothing. Why not take an exam on the national post? How do you mean? Well simple: in October-November it is the specialized exam, and in December and June it will be the exam! Hospitals are enrolled in him: Moinești, Poplaca, Onești, etc. Each wants x positions on yz specialties. And these exams are registered how many residents/specialists will give the exam on their specialty. Decent national topics to prove that you can think, not just vomiting what you memorized, the correction as residency – zero bribe, zero copy. Then, in order: you took the biggest score, choose what post you want, where you want. Then the next one. And so on. Did you take the exam but there are no positions? You receive a certificate to leave for free where you want out. Did you drop or refused a post on the grounds you want to go abroad? You sign that you pay college and residency and you can leave quietly! Isn’t it legal to hold doctors in the country? You make a contract with them at the beginning of the faculty, as MApN, MAI, MJ, etc. ”, proposes the doctor.
Another unresolved problem is that young doctors want places in university centers, but access is allowed by bypassing meritocracy. “In most of the university centers, however, you have to connect with the stab there, you generally standing on the knees and connecting, alternatively, either in front or back. Not everyone takes a doctorate or a assistant position! Desgraduation of the whole reinforced by Lingăi and drains ”, says Dr. Ciobotaru.
A third problem identified by the neurosurgeon at the Central Military University Hospital is that the Ministry of Health accepts the province transfers to Bucharest on various reasons, but at the same time does not accept the transfers between hospitals of senior doctors. “If I am a doctor in Buzău and I do there a neurosurgery section of the sun, why I can not be transferred, at my request or agree with the hospital at … Giurgiu, to do this there, and to Buzău to leave a colleague who worked side by side with me, to take everything further?” asks the doctor.
“Who pays me 3-4 months in which I have no paraphrase?”
Another reason why young doctors are thinking of leaving is that they run out of work immediately after residency. “Everyone is hungry! Without a job immediately after the residency, we are hungry, on the parents’ money! Well, if I give the specialized exam in October-November, why do I have the documents ready until January and I have to wait until April? Who pays me 3-4 months? You go all over the world ”, reports the doctor.
The volume of unequal work is another reason for dissatisfaction. They are, says the doctor, emergency sections where there are hundreds of consultations, because people do not go to the family doctor.
“If the ministry imposed a fee of 200-300 lei for a non-urgent consultation at UPU, as it is in all civilized countries, half of the places would be released! What do you have? 3 -month back pain? 300 lei the consultation now at night or you go to your family doctor tomorrow, take a referral ticket to neurosurgery and see you on the first occasion the neurosurgeon, that as you stayed for 3 months, stay 2 weeks. From 300, the doctor takes 50 lei, the case assistant 20 and the state 230. We bring money to the budget and so you are going to make guards with many patients ”, proposes the doctor. Such measures could cause patients to pay insurance, because they will need not only the consultation that costs, but also the recipe, control, etc., which do not benefit the non-insurance.
The lack of neurosurgeons
Georgian doctor Ciobotaru leaves for the last part of his message the presentation of a serious problem, which is also related to the unequal volume of work: that of the lack of neurosurgeons from many hospitals, or, even worse, their refusal to perform certain interventions.
“And the same unequal volume for example in my specialty: we have whole counties in the country without neurosurgeons. There are serious patients sometimes with the days through UPU. Even worse is that there are counties where there are neurosurgeons, but they refuse to interventions. Refuses to put external ventricular drainages (life savior and legally and morally compulsory) for various reasons, refuses to operate, refuses to make guards, etc. why not check the ministry how many external ventricular drainages have been placed in the county residences with neurosurgery? That if there are 0 drainages, there must be the control body, that some innocent people died !!! Trying to solve the exodus of doctors with money is as if you were trying to get rid of loneliness by paying prostitutes on the belt. Give it on if you agree please. It can reach the minister ”, The doctor ends his message.
Hundreds of users of the Internet have commented, most of them giving justice to the doctor and exposing their own experiences related to the medical system in Romania. The post also has over 30,000 distributions.
