Ștefania Iakab, a student of the Faculty of Arts and Design at the University of West Timșoara, won New Wave Art Prize, the competition launched by the Bog’Art Foundation in order to discover and support the young art talents.
. Ştefania impressed the New Wave Art Prize jury with the Alien Chic sculptural series and receives a 5500 euro scholarship from the Bog’art Foundation.
The prize was awarded at the big New Wave Art Prize final, an event organized in the form of a opening at the Catinca Tabacaru Gallery, where over 300 guests admired the works of the seven finalists.
New Wave Art Art is a competition dedicated to students from universities and faculties of arts in Romania, by which they were invited to transpose the experiences they had in the last 6 months-marked by extensive conflicts and social transformations-in works of art, whether it is painting, drawing, art installation or sculpture.

Of the 57 projects registered, seven were selected by the specialized jury to be the subject of an exhibition-event, and each finalist student received a budget of 500 euros from the Bog’art Foundation to transform the idea proposed into reality.
“My works visually transpose the tensions between natural and artificial, between familiar and foreign, between fragility and durability. The central materials of the works are combined in a way that generates a tense but coherent aesthetic. Imaginary, between archaic and fiction, ”says Stefan Iakab.
The jury of New Wave Art Prize was made up of Bogdan Doicescu (founding member of the Bog’Art Foundation), Catinca Tăbăcaru (gallerist, co -founder Rad), Daniela Pălimariu (artist, co -founder Rad Fair), Ștefan Sava (co -founder of project salon) and Matei Bejenaru “George Enescu” from Iași).
“Through this project the Bog’Art Foundation launches a clear message: Art matters. Young artists matter. Their emotions are worth listening and sustained.
We congratulate them all. The Bog’Art Foundation offered a prize worth 5,500 euros to the winner and we hope that this financial support will contribute significantly to its artistic development ”, says Bogdan Doicescu, a founding member of the Bog’Art Foundation.
The Bog’Art Foundation supports the artistic education in Romania

New Wave Art Prize is the first project launched by the Bog’art Foundation, established earlier this year, in order to actively contribute to the outline of a more valuable, more educated and responsible Romanian society.
The New Wave Art Prize jury congratulated the initiative of the Bog’Art Foundation for organizing the competition, considering it essential and necessary to support artistic education in Romania.
“The large number of registrations at the first edition of the contest confirms the need for such a prize dedicated to students in arts and thus offers them a real chance of launching career. The increased interest, from the first edition, and the size of the prizes in relation to any other competition for students, is a real potential for growth and transformation of this event, declares Catinca Tăbăcaru, a member of the New Wave Art Prize jury.
“In many cases, the strength of the message has surpassed even the artistic execution, and this shows us that the young generation of artists has a strong and relevant voice for the times we live. For me and for the Bog’Art Foundation, this project is not only a competition, but also a way to build a sincere dialogue with the future generations. I feel and express it.
The New Wave Art Prize exhibition can be visited at the Catinca Tabacaru Gallery (Calea Giulești, no 14, et 3) until July 20, between Wednesdays and Saturdays, between 12: 00–18: 00.

Upgrade by Bog’Art Foundation
In the next period, the Foundation will launch the second largest program – upgrade – which, this time, has a strong social component. By upgrade, four scholarships will be offered annually, worth 2,000 euros each, talented young people from disadvantaged families.
The granting criteria will be complex and based on meritocracy, the purpose of the program being that, by this support, there will be a real and beneficial social impact in the coming years.
New Wave Art Prize and Upgrade are projects designed by the Yolo Media agency for the Bog’art Foundation.
