Sorana Cîrstea, eliminated at Wimbledon in the first tour at the simple, defeated Mihaela Buzărnescu, 6-2, 6-2, on Tuesday, in a Romanian full match, from the first round of the UniCredit Iași Open Tennis tournament (WTA 250), equipped with total prizes of 239,212 euros.

Sorana feels good on the red surface

Cîrstea (35 years, 166 WTA) has been in 56 minutes in front of an opponent (37 years) that is in the 1,351 place in the world, after almost three years in the circuit.

Sorana defeated Mihaela and in their first two confrontations, in 2004, in optimum in Iași, 6-4, 6-2, and in 2006, in quarters in Bucharest, with 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.

In optimal at Iasi Open, Cîrstea will face Varvara Gracheva, the fifth favorite. Sorana Cîrstea won both confrontations, in 2022 at Melbourne Summer Set, with 6-0, 6-0, in the first round, and in 2023, in the first round at the Canada Open, with 6-4, 7-6 (7/3).

Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian, the second favorite, qualified on Tuesday, in the finals of the UniCredit Iași Open (WTA 250), equipped with total prizes of 239,212 euros, after defeating the Russian Daria Lodikova with 6-1, 6-4.

Jaqueline Cristian (27 years old, 51 WTA) imposed after an hour and 33 minutes in front of an opponent from qualifications (29 years, 415 WTA).

The two players faced in 2019, at an ITF tour at Minsk, in the eighth, the Romanian obtaining the victory with 6-3, 6-3.

Jaqueline Cristian has secured a check of 3,624 euros and 30 WTA points, and will meet Croatian Jana Fett. Cristian won both previous confrontations with Fett (28 years, 151 WTA).
