Video the superb lake in western Romania bypassed by Romanians. The place where legends with UFOs, monsters and curses were born

Six decades after its establishment, Lake Cinciș from Hunedoara has become a resort and a holiday village, but the access of water tourists is increasingly difficult. The lake keeps a lot of strange legends and is one of the most spectacular places in western Romania.

Lake Cinciș was arranged in the early 1960s, to ensure the water supply of the municipality and the Hunedoara steel combination, and in the six decades of existence it became known as the “coast of Hunedoara” or the “coast from the mountain”, due to its attractiveness.

In the summer, the accumulation lake was, every weekend, the place where thousands of Hunedoara and tourists relaxed. Most of the guests came here either on a day trips or to spend at least one night with the tent on his banks.

Strange legends on account of Lake Cinciș

A lot of legends rushed to Lake Cinciș, some meant to give streams to those who ventured into his waters or spent, in the light of fire, the nights near the water.

“It was said that the lake is haunted by the spirits of those buried in the cemeteries of the villages that, at the construction of the dam, were covered by the water, together with the old churches in Cincișului and Baia Craiului. Or that it would be under the curse of some old people who lived, in the past, in the settlements, in the village, in the village, Cinciș-Cerna ”, He remembers a local from the village of Cinciș-Cerna, in the vicinity of the dam, ten kilometers from Hunedoara.

Local folklore has also kept stories about the appearance of supernatural beings and UFOs above the lake, about strange creatures on the cloudy bottom of the water and about the victims forever in the depths.

“I arrived at 8:00 pm with my father, on the shore of Lake Cinciș. On the opposite bank, called popular,” on Tătăuş “there is a forest. Around 11:30 pm, I noticed with my father a light circle of relatively large diameter, which rose above the forest and remained still, about an hour, after which it disappeared. In the first phase I thought the forest was set fire, after which we realized that it was a “fire” circle that was delimited by the border. I am convinced that I have seen an UFO or a phenomenon of nature very strange ”, reports one of the tourists.

Some stories are related to the tragic events spent here and the drama of hundreds of people who have seen their demolished and swallowed houses during the hydrotechnical arrangements. His waters swallowed in the ’60s the Village of Cinciş, Cerna, Valley Ploştii, Baia lui Crai, Moara of Ungur and Ciuleni, old settlements from the forest of Forest, with a history of more than half a millennium, some keepers of some ancient vestiges.

“Many things were said about Lake Cinciş: that they would be haunted by the dead from the water swallowed by water, that people drowned every year, and the bodies did not come to the surface, that the animals were not approaching to drink water from the lake, that there were snakes or brooms on its ass. They forced them to leave their windows ”a local told.

Other legends have much older roots, being inspired by the archaeological discoveries from Cinciș: Roman and Dacian necropolis, whose existence was related to the old iron mines in the area.

Access to water, increasingly difficult

After 1990, the right bank of the lake, crossed by the road that connects Hunedoara to the localities on the Cerna Valley and the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, was gradually occupied by numerous private constructions: holiday homes, leisure places, pensions.

The lands were restricted, and access to water has become increasingly restricted. Only from a few points on the right bank, Lake Cinciș can be admired in all its splendor, without tourists having to pay any campsite or walk on private properties.

“” I could not reach the water from anywhere, on the seven kilometers of the road that surrounds the Cinciș Lake. In some areas there was a lot of vegetation and I could not go down. At the campsites, I had to pay 15 lei, even for a short visit. disappointed ”, tells a tourist from Deva.

Cinciș Lake, Holiday Village and Mini-Station

The left shore of Lake Cinciș is completely covered by the forests that extend on the hills tens of kilometers, to the heart of the Poiana Ruscă mountains.

A path starts from the dam area, following the outline of this bank through the forest, but few tourists dare to cross it, the access being made difficult by the streams that flow into the lake. Usually, only fishermen use it.

Neither Hunedoara – Teliuc – Toplița County Road, which surrounds the lake, does not give travelers reasons for satisfaction. It is full of unevenness, caused in particular by the trucks loaded with wood and by the works on the water and sewerage network of the leisure area on the shore of Lake Cinciș. Soon, the road will enter the site, to be modernized, the county authorities promise.

Daniel Pupeza, the mayor of Teliucu Lower commune, says that the situation of Lake Cinciș, recently declared a resort of local interest, will improve in the next period. The City Hall has set up a camping and leisure place on the lake, on a hill near it, but without access to water, which it intends to expand. And near it, the access to the water will be possible on a strip with a width of about 12 meters, located in the administration of the commune, which is to be arranged and equipped with a water pontoon.
