The President of the USR, Dominic Fritz, explained on Tuesday evening, July 22, the reason why he has not yet obtained the Romanian citizenship. The mayor of Timisoara is a German citizen.

“Because the state does not work even at the Citizenship Authority, where there is a blocking of about 50,000 files for citizenship. They have not yet arrived in 2024. Over a year ago I submitted my file and actually have not reached the stack of files, and I do not want to get in front. But I wait for every Romanian and makes me feel a little more Romanian every day“, Dominic Fritz told Antena 3.

Fritz, who is a German citizen, submitted his file to obtain Romanian citizenship more than a year ago.

He had announced in the autumn of last year that he was expecting to obtain Romanian citizenship by the end of the year, but this did not happen again.

In June, Dominic Fritz stated that he is not yet Romanian in documents and explained that for over a year he is going through the most Romanian experience, trying to obtain Romanian citizenship. He added that he is in line for a file that does not know where he is and no one can clarify him.

“That makes me feel a little more Romanian every day”, Said Fritz.
