Rogobete clarifies the reform of the ambulance services: “The ambulance remains subordinated to the Ministry of Health, it will not be transferred to DSU”

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, transmitted on Friday, July 25, an information that clarifies the information that recently published in the public space regarding an alleged reorganization of ambulance services, in the context of the reform in the health system.

“Following the incorrect and incomplete information that appeared in the public space regarding the reform of the ambulance services, we make the following clarifications: the reform of the health system – according to the governing program, the Romanian health system will benefit from significant structural reforms, meant to correct the functional imbalances and to support both the patients and the medical personnel” the minister said.

Rogobete emphasizes that the documents that were the basis of speculation “It is based on an internal work document (draft), which does not represent the final form for decision -making transparency and public consultation.”

The minister categorically rejected the information that ambulance services would be subordinated to the Emergency Department (DSU):

“The ambulance services remain subordinated to the Ministry of Health, will not be transferred to the subordination of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU). The collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through DSU, will be operative for managing emergency situations, in order to support the citizens. The Ministry of Health and in the operational coordination of the DSU for emergencies. ”

At the same time, the minister gave assurances that the medical and auxiliary staff will not be affected by the reorganization process, and the reform aims to make efficiency and adaptation to the current realities in the emergency sector, in parallel with similar changes that will take place within the Inspectorates for Emergency Situations.

Finally, the Ministry of Health sent a appeal to those who publicly speculate on these documents:

“We ask the people who speculate the information regarding the reform of the ambulance services to cease with these practices, who only stop the real progress of the reforms in the interest of the system and of the citizens.”
